So I'm trying to get out and about more with DD now that she's 4 months. The first 3 months were tough as she wouldn't sleep in her Moses basket until 3am every night and so I used the mornings to catch up on sleep instead. Now, she sleeps much better and I'm beginning to realise that she requires quite a lot of stimulation and so I've started a baby sensory class and today I tried out a music class.

DD loved it. She really responds to seeing other babies and loves the activities. It was me that felt uncomfortable though! It was quite a small group which I wouldn't normally find intimidating but everyone else was part of an nct group who completely ignored me. Not one person said goodbye as they all left to have coffee together and I very much felt an outsider.

I really don't know whether to carry on with it or not. I could do another session earlier in the morning but the session I went to is perfect in terms of nap time and feeds.

Anyone else find classes cliquey?

Maybe find a different class if the women don't seem friendly. If you're uncomfortable, the baby will respond to that. GL

Some classes are very cliquey! That's horrible that they ignored you. I just go to bounce and rhyme at the library. I find with the free classes 1) there are usually more people there and 2) more of a mix of people and different people eAch week as there's no obligation to go every time. As this is my 3rd I don't have too much time now

Sorry you had a rubbish experience :(. I haven't found classes to be cliquey but I have heard they can be, a friend was telling me about a friend of hers whose NCT group fell out because she started bringing another friend to their regular meet ups/classes etc! I didn't do NCT but nearly everyone I've met has, luckily I've managed to meet people anyway by going to lots of different things. I remember feeling very uncomfortable at baby massage as my little girl wouldn't latch on at the time and I was bottle feeding (now combo feeding) and it was full of yummy mummies all breastfeeding, I think it was more me beating myself up about it. Can you try another class instead?
