I have a question about putting baby down to sleep after their last bottle of the day. How soon after giving your LO their last bottle of the day, do you put them to sleep in their crib???? My LO always takes her last bottle of 5-6 ounces right before going to sleep. However, we would always put her in the swing for about 30 min. in an upright position, before transiting her to her crib and we've never had a problem. However, now we've been working on getting her off the swing and we just put her down in her crib last night. But DH is worried sick that we shouldn't be doing that. He had me carry her and sit her upright for like 15 min. :dohh: before putting her down to sleep in her crib. He thinks she could vomit or choke from being put down so suddenly after drinking her bottle. Because she still has to get use to this whole change, last night she cried for awhile, mostly I think because I did too much to wake her up after drinking her bottle. Sucks! because she took her two day naps in her crib without a problem. So I'm just wondering is there really any danger in putting a baby down immediately after drinking their bottle? And also, I'm wondering if breastfeeding her before bedtime vs. a bottle would be a better idea? By the way, LO is now 9 months old. TIA

After DD finishes her bottle I usually put her down within 5-15 minutes depending on when she falls asleep. I never had an issue about choking or vomit. Honestly I never really even heard of that lol!

I know..its silly, but it has me wondering now..lol. thank you

I tend to keep them up just so that they can pee it out a bit. I like to send them to bed with a fresh diaper. Right now I feed and change for bed 30 mins later. But it has nothing to do with the vomit issue.

I wouldn't have a problem putting them down if I had not seen an issue with vomiting in the past. What do you do in the middle of the night? I know that I put them down after overnight feeds so I don't see it as an issue other times.

If you have concerns, definitely don't put them in the swing. I think that they will get used to this as it is rocking them to sleep. Put them in the crib and use a baby monitor. Healthy sleep habits are important and you will thank yourself when you are able to get a good sleep because they are sleeping through the night.

My son goes down straight after his bottle and so did ds1 never had an issue x

Within about 5/10 mins. Lo rarely falls asleep whilst drinking his bottle so we have a bit of a sitting up cuddle and then I take him up and lay him straight down. X

I put my LO down right away. We cosleep, so for his middle of the night feeds, we are laying down and stay that way as he goes to sleep. Never had an issue, and if he fusses, I burp him for a few minutes then put him down.

To answer your question, thankfully LO is now 9 months old and has been sleeping through the night since about 6 months of age. So the last bottle of the night is simply the last feeding until the next morning, when I breastfeed her.

Ds1 used to fall asleep drinking his bottle and we put him straight to bed creeping upstairs trying not to change his position so he didn't wake 😂.
