Ugh. I feel so unfit to be a mother. I swore my baby would never fall off the couch. Baby is 9 weeks old today. I think he's alright. But I need to know what I should watch out for. Should I not let him go to sleep?
I had him in the boppy pillow like Ive done so many times and had been sitting with him. He was asleep for a while. When I would get up I'd keep checking on him. Made sure he was leaned towards back of couch. So went to clean bathroom a few ft away. 5 min. I hear thump! Cue heart drop. :( he screamed of course and I nursed him right away which he did his typical time with.
He awake and looking around and acting normal so far.
He probably fell a foot or a foot and a half. :,(

I'm sure he's fine, these things happen. :hugs: I know it's scary though, the first time my LO fell off the bed I was a wreck!!

Watch out for any vomiting or behaviour that seems off.

He won't have known what was happening so won't have tensed up so shouldn't have hurt himself too much, don't know about head injury etc but I'm sure he's fine.

We very nearly did the same thing, dh put LO on his front asleep in the corner of our corner sofa & he rolled off! Luckily I was watching & he dropped right into my hands!! My mum said the above, which makes me wonder how often I was dropped as a baby!! Ha ha.

We use a widgy pillow on the sofa but have started to face him towards the back/side as he now wriggles down or rolls out of it, so I want him to be contained!! But if possible we'll move it to the floor if we're gonna leave him at all (not always possible!). Dh carried him like it up 2 flights of stairs tonight & got to the top step before he woke up! Ha ha

:hugs: that must have been so scary! but you hear about babies falling off beds and couches a lot, so don't feel like a bad mom!! :hugs:

we put LO in the boppy on the couch, but we always make sure to have his feet facing either the back of the couch, or the side. he slides down in it sometimes, which is probably what happened with your LO. i don't know what to look out for, but i'm sure he'll be ok. just keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

Aria first fell off the couch at only a few weeks old, then she chubbed up & lost mobility, then at 4mo she fell twice in three days... First time off the couch again, second time she pushed herself out of her carseat. Now I dont leave her unattended for a second unless she's in her playpen or strapped in

Thanks everybody. He seems fine and slept fine last night. I'm not going to worry but definitely not putting him in boppy on couch anymore!

Ashley fell off the bed yesterday and I phoned NHS direct and they went through a big long list of questions and told me what to look for.
