baby has extremely red weeping creases - mixed advice - what works?!!

It could be thrushy. My son had something similar and a combination of sudocrem and a fungal cream did the trick.

DD's isn't as bad, but like you it just will not clear up completely. If you think it may be a wetness issue, someone had suggested corn starch to keep the area dry. It didn't really work for me, but it might be worth a try because they could be different issues. i hope you find something! If you do please update us!

I also vote for bepanthen. My LO has never had anything that bad but it helps the skin heal. If that doesn't work you need to try something else, see if it's fu gal as others are suggesting. Stop rubbing it too, it looks so sore. Air dry, and apply bepanthen and see if it helps.

Morning ladies! Thank you for your replies. I have bepantham at home already...along with sudocreme, metanium, aveeno oatmeal!! I meant the fungal cream...but yes I don't think it's the ladies bits thrush cream I believe it's something like fudicin...I'll get it from gp on Monday.

As for this morning - those of you that said just press a DRY flannel and then put on 'x y z' seems to be the best for drying it out and we used sudocreme. It's kind of dried on legs but it's wet on his neck. It's very hard to air as it's so closed up in his folds. I have unfortunately found dry skin on back of neck and inside elbows/inner arms....put bepantham here. This isn't looking good?

My c section scar was red inflamed sticky etc, nurse advised bepanthem and it got rid of it very well even In the fold of my baby bump so maybe try it on his neck x

Most babies get cradle cap I think. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine had it for several months when she was younger, but has been clear for ages now and it never came back.

What with his folds being so moist and warm, I'll be very surprised if it isn't fungal. It's a perfect (and common) place for a fungus to thrive.

For dry skin, we use Epaderm, which is amazing.

Thank you both very much x ill update after seeing Dr (yes I'm not worried about CC...just mentioning it incase there's any connection!)

I doubt it! Cradle cap is just an overproduction of oil while the sebaceous glands sort themselves out. :P

Yeah true :-) (very run down and stressed and not thinking clearly atm!!)

It sounds like Intertrigo...

My son had redness like your son but not as bad, on his neck. He's a big boy with a lot of rolls! I was very nervous about it because it was so very red and I couldn't get air to the area. Well I used aquaphor on it and it cleared up within a day. It was very red and rashy looking. I am a FTM so I had no clue that things like this happened. Now I always keep his rolls clean and dry. Now that I do that I haven't had a problem with the redness since. I use aquaphor with every diaper change as well and he has never had any redness in that area.

Yeah definitely sounds like this. Since the steroid cream isn't really helping though, he still needs to be checked out for an infection - hopefully the doctor will shed some light on this come Monday! Some good tips on that page for taking care of it until then. :)

try bathing him in a bath with dead sea salts. That will clear it up fast.

I get intertrigo from having lost a lot of weight, I have a stomach overhang and it happens under there. It's really quite painful.

For me a combo of a gentle nappy rash cream and applying extra virgin coconut oil clears it up pretty quickly. I have tried lots of prescription creams that didn't help that much.

Drying the intertrigo out HURTS. I need to pat it dry very gently and apply the coconut oil promptly.

I hate it and want to get a tummy tuck one day as it stinks and makes me feel dirty and disgusting.

Ahhh minties thank you for sharing that and I really hope you get your operation, that sounds like a lot of horrible hard work x

Well DS is all cleared up thanks to sudocreme! He's a bit dry now where it's literally chalked up and stayed so minties would you suggest coconut oil at night sudocreme morning kind of ratio?

He had his first bath since last Thursday last night and I smothered him in sudocreme after patting down every single crease!! And the creases of the creases!! He does now have some dry patches forming on tummy and back?? So I've put aveeno on those and ill see how they are today

Glad he's feeling better Hun
Long time no talk glad all is well xx

Thanks ladies! Yes it's staying dry...but NOW he has dry patches, some red all over his tummy and upper back and shoulders! Eczema? I've really moisturised him today with Aveeno but it's not helped..
