Baby name pronunciations

People insist on calling Luca Luke or Lucas, no matter how many times I correct them; even when they've read his name!

Leyla is only 4 weeks old and I can count on my fingers AND toes how many times she's been called Lola

Mia has only been called Mya once or twice.

I've come to the conclusion that people hear what they want to hear or believe they hear.

I made sure to use names that were easy to pronounce.

My name is Mickele and even my own aunty spells it wrong. Nobody says it right the first time after reading it. Drives me mad!

How do you pronounce your name! I'm imaging Mick-elle or Mick-ellie? - i see someone answered  thanks!
Dead curious.

Some of you and your LOs have some wonderful and very unique names. The best I've heard on any name thread on here

My daughter's name is Aerith (pronounced air-ith), and when I say her name to people I they usually think I'm saying either "Erin" or "Eric." She's only 2 1/2 weeks old so I better get used to it. :dohh:

So far, people haven't mispronounced her name when they see it written first, but my mom said that she thinks people might think it's pronounced "arr-ith."

Ahh I love that name. Did you name her after Aerith Gainsborough in FFVII?! Sorry if not, I've just never heard of it elsewhere!

We don't have any problems with LO's first name (who can get Alexander wrong, really?) but one of his middle names is my maiden name and nobody EVER knows how to pronounce that ;) I love it though.

My one daughter is Milena (Mih-Lay-Nuh), but people never get it right ... Myleena, Mylenna, Melaynie, Milennia etc.

I guess the spelling doesn't make it obvious but oh well.

Yes, we did! :D DH and I both played FFVII long ago and instantly agreed on the name.
