Ok so ita my friends lo has never been Interested in milk, she is 8 weeks old and has 2 oz every 5 hours! she is not putting alot of weight on and just generally doesn't like milk, my friend doesn't know what's wrong, any ideas? Greatly appreciated x

Hmmm this is tricky, especially with it not being your own LO, but didn't want to read and run. Out of interest, what brand of formula is she using, and what type of bottles? Maybe she is fussy about the shape of the teat, or the temperature of it or something like that?

Hi hun. Agree with blahblahblah. Could be the bottles, teats or formula. U can try moving to the next teat size & see how it goes. We changed formula & bottles several times until we found ones that he liked.

Her lo had to go hospital, very unwell, lost 1lb in 3 days :(

It could be an allergy or intolerance; babies know if something isn't agreeing with them and will refuse it; she could need a special type of formula. Even something like cow&gate comfort can be a massive improvement in some cases; but in others they need a true hypo-allergenic formula where the composition of the milk protein has been completely altered. Please do keep us updated!

I wonder if her LO gets very distracted. If it was up to mine, he would not eat all day and just pig out at night in his sleep. Perhap taking the baby away to a quiet dark room and a slow silent feed will help.

This is a reason that toddlers often wake at night to feed - they get so distracted in the day they forget to eat. Some babies do this too. But she'll have to keep on top of having pediatricians evaluate as that is quite a weight loss

Agree. Omar only takes his bottles in a dark room with no distractions since he was tiny. He never asked/cried for feeds so we had to schedule his feeds every 4 hrs.

Turns out she was lactose I tolerant, she is on soya milk now, thanks guys she is doing alot better x
