Hi guys, I haven't been on here in a while!! I have a little question! My baby doesn't roll!! Should I be worried? I saw him roll once but can't remember if from stomach to back or back to stomach but he's never done it again! That was about two months ago. He doesn't even try!! He gets quite a bit of tummy time and he sits Ok ish!

My son learnt how to roll at 3 months, only did it small handful of times and mainly stomach to back. Then he just stopped doing it, kind of like "oh yeh, I can do it now, time to store this skill away for later" and didn't roll for three more months!! Then out of no where he realised that rolling could get him places, and started using it as a form of transportation :haha: he would roll over and over and over again to get from one side of the house to the other. He was super fast! Then he started army crawling (painstakingly slowly) everywhere instead. I often wondered why he bothered, as rolling was 100x faster haha.

Anyway, I would not worry. He might just be doing what my guy did. He tends to learn skills and then not use them (my gp pointed out that he might just be lazy haha). He might also just be content where he is. One thing I did find was that my son learns new things faster when we practice on the bed. He always rolled easier, got on all fours easier etc under that springy surface. If you want to, maybe get him to practice on the mattress?

I wouldn't worry until maybe 8 months? But obviously if you are concerned you can make a doctor's appointment :flower:

Thanks LittleLaLa, that makes me feel less worried. I think lol might actually be a bit lazy like your go says. He just kinda lies there sucking his toes. He is the most tranquil baby ever! He just lies there watching everyone smiling away to himself

No worries. Loads of babies don't do it until later. Is he chunky?

Honestly my first son didn't roll at all until 9 months when he crawled! And I mean he did not roll over not even once. He then crawled and cruised all within a week of each other. Try not to worry he will do it when he wants/needs to. X

My daughter didn't roll until 7 months. She seems to take the extra time to do things and then does them like a pro!

My son is 9 1/2 months and just rolled for the first time yesterday without me coxing him. He also rolled for the first time by himself in his crib this morning. He is a chubby little (big I guess ;)) guy though. He's 30lbs and 31 inches. Hasn't crawled, but stands up on his own from my lap and walks with me holding his hands. I'm not worried about hm not crawling. His Dad never crawled and some babies just go straight to walking.

My son didn't roll until he was 7.5 months old. He crawled (on hands and knees, he never belly crawled) at 8.5 months and walked at 11. Babies are weird.

My nearly 10 month old has only just started rolling. I'm sure he could do it before but he just had no interest

Hlynne your little guy sounds just like our Zach! He's on the 90th for weight, not crawling, walls holding hands and has only just started to roll

That's crazy! I'm just glad that I'm not the only one with a very big baby that is content to just stay in one place ;)

My daughter figured out how to roll both front to back and back to front at about 3 months old. Although she can do it she almost never does. If I put her down to sleep on her back she immediately rolls to her stomach, but otherwise he rarely bothers to roll. I figure she is just busy working on developing new skills and will come back to rolling when she finds a reason to. Right now she is working hard at crawling, whenever I put her down on her tummy she puts her butt up in the air and kicks her legs, she just needs to put her arms in motion and she will be on the move.

JumpingIn, how is Zach doing now with his reflux?

I have a chunky bubba too. 99 percentile for weight and height. He didn't roll until 7.5 months, crawled at 9 months and now standing assisted and looking like he will take off soon.

I had one baby who rolled at 3 months and one who rolled at 8 months. Didn't make any difference in the long run, and both walked at 11 months.

Thanks for asking Meep, he is a million times better! Still on a very high dose of lansoprazole and consumes nothing but fruit, vegetables and Neocate formula, but he's otherwise a normal baby. It was utter hell for the first 6 months. By 7 months we started to see some light and for the past 2 months he's even been sleeping a normal amount. It's good to be back

That's great news. Hopefully things can only get better now! Serious respect for you for sticking it out and coming out the other side. :)

Oh our little one is a bit of a chubster too! That might have something to do with it. Tonight he rolled from tummy to back!!! Well done my little chubby monkey.
