Congrats Jackie! That's my worst fear - the epidural failing! It's encouraging to hear your story, just in case that happens to me. I'm so happy for you!
Welcome, baby Thor!
I was a bit freaked out by it, too, But like I said, I wish I could have seen into the future...it would have saved me unnecessary fear.
Here's what I WOULD say to anyone who opts for an epidural: if it doesn't work th first time, don't try again.
Right now, I would be feeling SO amazing if it weren't for the back pain and the headache/neck pain....all caused by a spinal fluid leak that occurred from repeated attempts at placing the epidural. I have pain meds, so it's manageable, but it still sucks and had i said no to repeated attempts, I would have had the same birth experience but without the pain to deal with afterwards.
So I'd say, if your epi fails for some reason (pretty rare), accept it, grit your teeth, and just be the brave woman that you know you are. Much better than causing yourself all the back pain, etc... Afterward when you're trying to enjoy your LO.
