just wondering if any of you have any opinions on her methods, and if youhave a routine for your baby... we are really struggling with getting LO to sleep at the mo, as he is hyper and refuses to sleep and thus gets very overtired. we are getting desperate so willing to try anything!

I have taken some stuff from the Baby whisper methods. Mainly the EASY routine- this is because I found it easier to read his cues if I separated the Eating from the Sleeping - easier to tell whether he was crying because he was hungry or tired.

However your LO is still very young so don;t worry too much, I think I found the hard weeks for me were weeks 5-10 x

i really like her easy - eat activity sleep you routine it has worked well with our boy and her methods help you look for the tired signals and act on them before they are too tired. blocking visual stimulation on trying to get to sleep really works have never had to try the pick up put down thing but my friend said it worked for them - so all in all i think are good as aids you to listern to baby but as with everything it not set in stone and must be adapted as suits you

I really like the EASY routine. I do not follow it completely but often refer to the book for the odd thing. I wouldn't worry too much about a routine at the moment. Elliott has a bedtime routine which we introduced when he was 7 weeks old but during the daytime he eats and sleeps when he wants (he is bf).xx

I use the wind down routine for naps during the day and it works really well for Tom - he's 3 months now.
I take him into his room, put him in his sleeping bag and sit with him quietly for 10 mins before putting him down. It works really well - he always goes to sleep after this.

I've also tried the 'shhh and pat' routine when he's got wound up and crying and found it really successful.

thanks for your opinions ladies-will get the book and see if it helps. Have heard that she can take things a little too far, but i guess like you, we can pick and choose what suits.

I use the baby whisperer books too and think EASY is a really good routine. It really does help read your baby's cues. On days when it's gone wrong for some reason, it's so much harder to read baby's cues and understand what she wants. It's useful to understand your baby's temperament too. My baby is definitely spirited, as described by Tracy (can't remember her surname) and this has helped me understand her needs for sleeping i.e. has to have all stimulation removed, go to sleep in the dark and follow a sleep ritual (adapted from the BW book).

I would say though that the routine didn't really start happening until about 6 weeks. LO needed to sleep more and EASY didn't really fit her needs. Good luck.
