So as you might already know, I use natural fertility signs to avoid pregnancy. In particular I watched cervical mucous and occasionally cervical position.

I found this very interesting little computer which helps determine fertile/non-fertile days based on basal body temps. I love the .7 pearl index rating. It's got almost 3/4 of a million cycles stored in there that it compares your cycle to and at the same time learns your cycle to determine fertile and non-fertile days.

So for those women who are looking at a more natural method of birth control - what do you think? And maybe some of you have heard of this or know someone who has one?

It's a little spendy off the bat, but I figure I'll be saving in the long run vs. standard contraceptive methods.

Thanks for the comments and input :)

Hello Margerle, may I introduce myself: I am Petra and a consultant for natural contraception in Germany and France for almost 8 years now.

I think the LadyComp is a good choice for couples who think hormones are (no longer) the best possible contraception method but do not want rely on their own NFP expertise only.

I would not recommend it to couples where cuddling up on fertile days or using a condom at their own risk is not good enough. Also I think those 20% of women with irregular cycles should seek a consultation first to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Please let me know if you have detailed questions – I am happy to help

Hey Margerle :)

I use a software called Ovusoft, it's associated with the Taking Charge Of Your Fertility book.
I'm only going to be using natural family planning/the fertility awareness method for birthcontrol too, was actually very interesting to read that part of the book for the first time!

Ok, this is nothing like the product you're looking at but I thought it worth mentioning :D

Margerle, you always find the most interesting info!Sounds like a good option if you have regular and reliable cycles.

I've lived by that book for the last 5 years... GREAT resource! I never did use BBT for tracking fertility so ovusoft wasn't exactly a good fit. I just used Fertility Friend and it was alright.

I like that this thing can think for me, and it's got the temp taker right attached. I'll probably be using this for 10-20 years (I'll probably be fertile till I'm in my mid to late 40's), and 10-20 years worth of condoms or BC pill or whatever method save abstinence, seems like a pretty good deal for $500 (that's like $50 a year). :happydance:

Since I got my period this week, and am back on the fertility tracking bandwagon, I'll probably order it tomorrow.

Thanks Petra! I'll sure contact you if I have any questions!

I'll be using natural tracking from now on as well. I refuse to go back on horomones so until we have another kid we'll be using natural methods. What is Ovusoft?

It's the software that is aligned with Toni's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility (GET IT :)) It uses the Sympto-Thermal Method of tracking your fertility (aka basal body temp, with secondary signs like cervical position and mucous).

A little like Fertility Friend only much more accurate (according to friends who have used both) But as I said, I've not used BBT to track fertility, so I never charted with it.
