I have just gotten back into babywearing now it has cooled down a bit, and I am loving wearing Ivy on my back. Only problem is, I'm still not confident in getting her in the carrier and still have to lay the carrier down on the floor and lift her up from it to get her in  So what do you ladies do on the bus if you don't take them out the carrier? I guess I'll just have to stand up, or if the bus isn't busy do you take up two seats and kind of sit at an angle?! Also, videos of easy ways to get the Ergo in the back carry would be amazzing, if any of you have any tips.

Another question: do you put your carriers on OVER your coats and stuff? Is it not a bit uncomfortable for your LO? Backcarrying is so much more complicated!

Hehe part of it is just practice.

I recommend viewing some ergo back carry videos and practicing the art of swinging them around (search on Youtube). I do it by swinging him around and throwing him on my back (it's already bottom buckled), then I pull the straps over my shoulder. It's probably a more advanced move but try it at home.

Yes, I put the carrier over my clothes - it's not uncomfy at all.

Ah ha i'm the same, i stopped between May - August i just couldn't hack the heat!

This one is okay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPPZ2uWbnxg

Though i just generally hoist him round my back from the side now (stand over my bed lmao) and put him in! I'm worried about transport though and still using the pushchair, this worries me too!) i've only ever gotten him into that position in my house, not out and about x

I definately don't take Roh out of the Ergo on the bus, we either stand up, or more normally, i'll just sit down, i just don't lean right back and squish him, i perch on the edge of the seat! :haha: He normally leans over to look out the window, or sometimes amuses himself banging his head against the bar at the top of the seat and giggling (that seems to worry other people sometimes )

As for getting him in, i do it almost exactly as the manual suggests, the same as in the video above, its quite safe and easy you just need the confidence, and for both of you to get used to it. Just practice and practice over the bed or sofa until you both know what you are doing :)

And yes, carrier over coats, you'll both keep eachother warm so wear a little less than you usually would i would suggest.

I use the Superman with my 30lb'er.

Warning, this is only for those who have proceeded to the advanced level of Ergo and Babywearing, not for beginners!!!!!!!!!

awww that kid in the video is so cute, I bet Ivy would love it if I swung her up like that! This weekend I need to get practicing. I am beginning to wonder if I have genuine learning difficulties, I still cannot even fold down a buggy!

Yes they love it! And yeah you might just be transport-impaired... Maybe get a red wagon instead? JK

It's daunting when you're not used to it but once you've practiced getting her in the back carry a few times it'll become second nature. I'm fact now I find back carry easier to do than front carry. If you're worried about putting her back into the carrier on a moving bus you could just carry her in your arms off the bus then put her in the carrier once outside.

The few times iv had her on my back iv just sat forward a bit.
