I'm 11 days post-op and I've been admitted to the hospital after sudden, extremely heavy bleeding. My baby and husband are with me at least. The MD suspects some retained placenta so i've been here overnight waiting to hear about what they want to do. It's scary - although not painful at all, which is so weird to me - and apart from feeling afraid, I feel great. The bleeding has slowed down a lot too. I just wanted to share my story because I Googled (of course) and I see a lot of women in this sitution asking "should I call the doctor? Should I go in?" My advice is don't delay, call your doctor and/or head to the ER.

hi just read your post! are you ok? what has been decided...take care :flower:

i had this after my 2nd child not heavy bleeding but was bleeding for 18 weeks after having her they just sent me for a scan and gave me that injection you get after giving birth to help pass the placenta and that worked for me . hope your ok xx

They think it's an infection so I'm being treated with antibiotics. I have to stay another night which is reassuring in a way, in case the bleeding happens again.

Is your baby able to stay in hospital with you?
Hope you are ok and everything gets under control x

Yes, my baby is with me, thank goodness! We've been trying to establish BF since birth and it's been really hard because of the surgery and the pain and he wouldn't latch, and just when he started latching, I ended up back in here so it's been a bit of a setback for us. Honestly, it's just one thing after another!

I should be discharged late tonight if I don't run a fever. Just one more dose of IV antibiotics. The diagnosis was endometritis. I think it was fairly atypical because I had no pain, no fever ever, I felt great - just this awful bleeding that came out of nowhere. Anyway, I hope this info is helpful/reassuring to other women in the c-section "club".

The exact same thing happened to me eight days pp. No pain at all, just excessive bleeding. Very scary. According to my doctor the heavy bleeding was caused by a blood clot as my uterus had not clamped down properly after the birth.
I hope you get Togo home soon, Hun. Sending you hugs and speedy recovery dust. :hugs:

Me too, i have retained products and im on antibiotics as they will not do a d and c as my uterus is to thin xxxx good luck hun xxxx

Thanks so much! The last I heard before they discharged me was that it was a pocket of air in my uterus, and there was also evidence of a bacterial infection. Anyway: I'm home now. Baby5 & Sapphire83, I hope you get well soon! What a drag, eh? At least we have beautiful babies to cuddle in the meantime.
