Hi ladies! Good morning, I'm having the worse heartburn, it also kept me up last night :( and I had to get up for work this morning at 6am :( Does anyone have any good home remedies, or a medicine that we can take.
Thank You!

I had this a couple nights ago and used chamomile tea (half of a cup) to get it to lessen enough to get some sleep.

Yesterday, I picked up some Zantac 150 (which there's a generic for!) and took one of those. My never-ending heartburn finally disappeared after a couple hours. Woke up this morning... no heartburn!

There are some other meds that might help. Medications Considered Safe for use During Pregnancy

Poor thing! HB is the worst, mine's only just calming down but has got much easier since hitting full term. Someone on here recently was recommending Zantac (I think that's what it was). I get large bottles of Gaviscon on prescription, frigging foul stuff but it helps temporarily. Your doc should be able to prescribe something for you. Not sure about any home remedies though. Hope it gets easier on you!

1/2 teaspoon Bi-carb of soda and milk mixed together (half a glass) works a treat better than anything u can buy over the counter

One thing that helps me is soda/sparkling water.
I find sipping it really helps take the edge off the pain and the reflux, and is particularly handy to have while you're waiting for the Zantac to kick in.

My OHs grandad swears that eating pickled onion helps relieve quicker and better than anything. I've yet to try it as I keep forgetting to buy them I get the large Gaviscon on prescription too. Have you tried avoiding spicy food and not eating late etc? Hope you find some relief x

mite have to try the pickles thing!

sainsburrys Belgian chocolate milkshakes help me! very tasty... 2 for £1.20 at the mo! and parma violets they contain one of the ingredients that antacid tablets do.

just a heads up my doc wouldnt prescribe zantac and the pharmacist refused to sell it me! said i can only have gaviscone...

does it take a few hours to work? maybe that was my problem , i thought it wasn't working but if it takes some time then maybe i'll try it again. Got the generic lol cause i am cheap.

I've just been drinking milk to help with acid reflux/heartburn up until now but it's gotten SO bad that I'm turning to tums. I dunno if they will work, I'm having someone pick up a bottle for me today so I'll try them tonight. I need some relief but I refuse to take anything stronger than tums for this.

I was told by my obgyn that tums are pretty much useless.

I however, take a teaspoon of yellow mustard. Usually works, but if it doesn't, I will take gaviscon.

Yeah, I noticed that it took a few hours, but once it kicked in, the unbearable heartburn turned into no noticeable heartburn. I too went with the generic as it was much cheaper (same active ingredients as the brand though).

As for the poster who mentioned the pharmacist wouldn't sell it to them, is it not over the counter (OTC) where you are? If it isn't then go with what your doctor recommends. Zantac is OTC here, so we don't need a prescription.

baking aisle will be near the baking soda and cream of tartar. i had gastric surgery 4 years ago and suffer with acid reflux ever since doc told me about this little remedy and it really works (tastes pretty horrid but works)

i think on my bad days i will try it again, on the plus it made me poop haha.

to the lady that mentioned pickles... your a bloody star! it worked!!!!!! thank you x

I had a yoghurt last night which seemed to help, gaviscon does nothing for me x

For me gaviscon is the best, but a large glass of milk recently takes the edge off the worst heartburn. I get it sometimes where it makes me sick and if I drink milk it does ease it alot and avoid the sickness xx
