Hi, is it bad luck to have the pram in the house before baby is born? Does this mean at all or is it ok If pram is not set up?
X

I personally, won't have the pram in the house at all. When I get close to my due date, my mum will collect it and keep it at hers. Depends on your superstitions though. I won't pick up a dropped knife, put new shoes on a table etc, so for me it's quite a normal thing. We don't need any more bad luck!! x

Thank you for your response! I'm very sorry to read about your son Joshua xx

Depends if superstitious but i wouldn't until baby comes xx

My mums keeping the pram at hers for now, whilst I stay at Dads.
After I move into a new house with Mum (FOB left us) the pram will go somewhere else. I wont have it at my place of residence x

We had the whole travel system in the house for at least 6 weeks before Adrian was born. The car seat was on it's base in the car for a bit but the rest wasn't put together until he came home. That wasn't down to superstition, it was a storage issue.
Totally up to you hun and what you believe in. :)
Personally, i have a (IMO) beautiful, healthy robust little boy after a relatively straight forward pregnancy and birth. So having the pram in the house had no ill effects for us.

i'll be having mine in the house when i collect it, i dont believe in any of that stuff

With my daughter we left it in the store till 4 weeks before my due date, but purely because of space. It was a pram that turned into a buggy and baby nr2 is going to be using it, so it will be turned back into a pram again. So basically with baby nr 2 I've been having the pram in the house for 2.5 years before its born lol :)

Its a superstition, my mum got quite upset when we said we wanted to get our travel system in the house. She really doesnt want us too and as she is buying it im respecting her wishes.

Haha... I agree totally with all of it. :)

Not superstitious at all here, I love having my baby's things around me. Including the pram when it arrives.

Unless you trip over the pram & hurt yourself, how can having it in the house cause 'bad things' ?!?!

It could potentially be bad luck if you believe it will cause you bad luck. Think positively and good things happen :)

im not superstitious at all. i had the pram all set up in the house for weeks before! everything was fine.

my secretary kept her pram at the store and only paid a deposit and was to pay the balance on collection when the baby was born. he was still born and she had to go and cancel the order.

do whatever you like!

Mine come today,I put it up,Put a little teddy in and had a mooch round my front room with it too,I had both my sons buggys in the house quite early on as i got raving deals on both,So i dont really go for the superstition thing,But each to there own

I personally think its silly, we had our pram in the house before our first was born and I'm still using it as she's only 1 so it's definitely in the house during this pregnancy.
A pram can't cause any harm to an unborn baby!

What's going to happen to the baby is going to happen regardless of if baby things are in the house or not. I've personally never heard of this && think it sounds a little eccentric IMO. But to each their own! We are bringing baby things into the hosue as we get them. We have 2 car seats, 2 strollers, the rooms painted, 3 huge boxes of clothes, jumperoo, floor swing etc. And will be getting the crib and setting it up in the next few weeks! I personally like having the baby things in the house :) Makes it seem more real !

We've had ours for 9 weeks. Have got it out twice and played with it and pushed it around. (Normally with my cat in it. He loves it.)

We've got all of her furniture too.

If something is going to go wrong or right what you've bought/got isn't going to change that.

But then I don't follow any superstitions at all.

It is a very British thing. It's not saying having the pram in the house will cause a baby to be stillborn or anything that extreme. And it's not all baby items. I don't believe because I had baby items in the house, that's why Joshua died, and we hadn't even ordered the pram, let alone of had it in the house!! Every culture has different superstitions and beliefs, dependent on your area/family/upbringing etc. It's like how the Japanese/Chinese (not sure which, or both?) leave their shoes at the door, and the morrocans think it's bad luck to eat with your left hand x

THAT'S why I've never heard of it!

What do people do that are having a 2nd child and are using the first child's pram? Do they have to give the pram to someone to mind or is it just 'new' prams?
For me personally I believe what ever will be, will be. I don't believe having a pram in the house will determine the health of my baby. I had never heard of this before my DD and had a pram in the house before she was born and she is a happy healthy sweet little girl. I have LO's new pram outside the nursery door (due to the nursery being freshly painted). If you do believe its a bad omen, then do whatever makes you feel better.
