BBT Thermometers vs. Regular Thermometers?

Okay, so I just started charting BBT this morning. I've heard that you should use a BBT thermometer, but I've also heard that you can use a regular thermometer, as long as it has 00.0* instead of 00*. Anyone out there who uses a regular thermometer?? I'm trying to save 8 bucks if I don't need to use a BBT. If so, I'm going to Walmart tonight. :D TIA!!

The difference between a regular thermometer and a bbt thermometer is that the regular measures to the tenth degree (00.0) and a bbt measures to the hundredth (00.00). When you're temping, the more specific you can get, the more accurate your chart. Temperatures are delicate things and can fluctuate by hundredths of degrees, something you would miss by using just a regular thermometer. In the long run, 8 bucks is worth it to have a more accurate chart. In my honest opinion, as a temper and charter myself, if you're going to go through the trouble of temping every day, you might as well make it worth it by making sure it's as accurate as possible.

This!

I struggled for 3 cycles wondering if I should get a BBT instead of using my regular thermometer. I finally broke down and bought one from Amazon that ladies on here suggested and I'm so glad I did. It really makes temping more understandable for me. I always felt like with a regular thermometer I was doing it half ass and I questioned its accuracy...like she said...if you are going to go through the trouble of temping every morning you might as well do it right!!
