Hi ladies

Just looking for some advice on becoming a childminder. I returned to work when LO was 3 months, she is now 8 months and I hate it. I cant afford not to work, so thought childminding may be a good option. can anyone give me advice such as training required, how long it takes, costs and potential earnings?

Thanks x

Just bumping up hoping someone who has some good info spots it x

Ive had a word with my friend and she said you dont need any formal qualifications you do however need to register with you local authority for an approved registration course, hers was free and lasted 18 hours its a childminding introduction program, a st Johns ambulance course and a food hygiene course.

Also see about the childminding start up grant. I know my friend got toys and educational material with hers and then I think she had to register with Ofsted who would then check her property and make suggestions for further improvements.

Youll have to pay a registration fee and then an annual fee and will take around 3 months to process.
