Dont know if this is the right place lol but im a single mum to be so thought i would put it in the single parents bit.
Right so i got offerd a house yesterday, I wasnt expecting to get one not until baby is born. I was putting in for housing you know to show my face, i mean im glad i have it, can start to get everything ready, but now im getting worried.
The only money i have is from that £190 grant, and i dont start getting income support till im 29 weeks do i? Which is like 2 weeks. Or do you think i might be able to get it abit early? But my parents will always support me for a week or two until i get it.
Then im thinking, Bills... Gas, electric, water. Could someone give me like a rough estimate of how much they usualy spend on bills each month?
Sorry if i sound like im going on  I worry to much for my own good sometimes.
Any help would be much appriciated.

im usually around £20 a week for gas £20 a week for electric. council tax is like £7 a week but thts with single persons discount and benefit. thts just the basics, iv obviously got food, fne line n tele on top of tht then my babys milk n food.

its alot bu ul get by hun, if this is the first time uv lived aloe it looks alot on the outside but once your in and providing for urself its never as bad as u first thought:D

xx

Hello hun, just wondering are you working at the moment? or claiming housing/counci tax benefit?

I live on my own in a private rented apartment which i rented before i lost my job!, the council pay my rent as housing benefit, and also my council tax :) I'm on jsa so the only bills i pay are gas/electric/water/internet. I used to work for a utilities company and if you are struggling to pay your bill just tell them you are on income support or jsa and they will work out a plan for you to pay the minimum towards your bills like £5 a week or so!

My bills for 2 months are:

gas- £10
electricity- £30
water- £30 but its on a water meter so i pay for what i use :)

Hope this helps, but then again winter is coming so the heating will be on a lot! bigger gas bill grr!

(also if you are struggling for money call for a crisis loan at the job centre, they usually sort it within the day and give you a giro to cash so your not stuck :))

Thank you guys :)
Im not working at the moment but will be claiming for income support and housing benefits when im 29 weeks.
And yes this is the first time im going to be living alone. Still at my parents at the moment, there really supportive but they have never been on benefits at all so they know nothing about it to help me.

U should beable to get income suppport early if u have ur own place.

at the moment i pay £5 one week £10 the next for elec, and about the same for gas. Though coming into winter im sure the gas will be more.

i then pay for telephone which works out at £17 a month and u can get broadband in on that price.

£20 a month for water.

all rent and council tax paid for.

apply for a budgeting loan, think thats what they call it. to get money for things for ur new house. good luck. u can take the house and do it up slowly until ur ready to move in. when i got my 1st place i stayed with my parents for 4 months got it all ready fit to move into

If your living on your own with go job you should be able to apply for houseing benifut now! Then income surpporgbor job seekers! Also the sure start grant!

right okay, will ring them up today then about getting it early. thank you :] x

your entitled to HB and CTB straight away, just need to ask your parents to be guarenters to keep the landlord sweet. :D your so lucky i wish i could move out!

signed for the house today so it officialy mine.
but they are being funny and trying to fob me off saying i still cant get anything till im 29 weeks. grrrr. think i might just go down my local job centre tomorrow and wait to be seen cause there being so arsey on the phones. i actually cried she was that rude!
Thanks everyone for the help :) x x
