I'm pregnant with my first successful pregnancy but due to some complications I'm being induced Wed. night. I'm nervous and not sure what to expect. Anyone willing to share their experiences or offer advice? I can't wait to finally hold my little boy and I'm so excited but SO NERVOUS! LOL so please advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Can't offer any advice, but I'm getting induced tomorrow. Good luck! :)

After having just een induced, I can say the following:

- Be prepared for a long wait from induction to contractions. Walking after the gel/pessary (if that's what you're starting with) really helps.

- Be prepared for multiple internal examinations. Although you can probably say no to some, this is the best way to know how far dilated you are. For me, after 4 internals within 18 hours, I was in agony and tears. I would definitely recommend gas & air for these internals if there is a next time.

- Things can happen really quickly from first insertion of gel, etc to full-blown contractions. Don't be scared, I was actually very excited as that meant that I would be seeing my LO earlier than expected.

- Contractions can be more intense, but they can also completely stop after a few hours.

Hope the above helps.

I'm being induced Wednesday morning at 5am and am a bit nervous also. Cheers to us and may God bless us with a happy and healthy delivery of our LO's!

after you have had the1st pessary get out of bed and WALK!(when youre allowed), this usually helps speed things up.

as the other poster said, be prepaired for internals,

and be prepaired for things to happen quickly. i went to clean my teeth ready for bed feeling ok, just a bit crampy, went to the loo,my waters went and by the time id made it back to my bed i was having full on 100% contractions that scared the hell out of me, an epidural was on the way to my back half hour later!

I was sooo scared of induction but I had a positive experience. I'd say try to relax (I know, it's easy to say it!) because you don't know what will happen- things could get going quickly or take ages. But you will be in safe hands.
I'd try to rest if you can. I know walking is supposed to get things going but you could be in labor for a long time so if you can get a snooze in then go for it! Also if you're starting with the pessary then try a bath as it may get things going and if not it's still lovely and relaxing!
Oh and the pessaries are teeny tiny- I was worried it would be massive, i was so scared!

Yes, I had internals work with me with my first. And I was also induced. This is how things happened, they stuck a monitor in to monitor my son, then left. It was on New Year's Eve and the nurses were celebrating. As my family were looking for any living breathing nurse they can snatch off the hallways, I was already pushing. Alone. Anyhow, all resulted in my husband holding my leg while nurses are running around without heads on their shoulders, and my son being born with a little circled wound from the monitor that they didn't remove in time. Sorry had to share, or vent...

Currently being induced...agony internals...used gas n air still....hurts to pee even...major backache from this and still no contraction....waiting for 3rd pessary.n...had to have pethidine just finger a decent sleep because of backache..but so glad i took the injection...I think I Wii go the cesarean way if offered...if internals r thus horrendous I can't imagine labour...sorry to scare u ....but be prepared mentLly gift this..

I had a very positive induction hun. Had pessary put in at 5.30 wed night and literally had period cramps til the next morning when they checked me againa nd i was 3cm. They broke my waters and i fully dilated and delivered within 3 1/2 hours, yes it was painful but totally worth it :). As for internals i dont remember having any so dont think they can have been too painful for me lol. Good luck and keep us updated xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

id get up and get moving for a good 30 min when they let you after the first gel pessary if thats how they are inducing you then if nothing is happening get some sleep and start again in the morning. avoiding lying down was key for me with ds2 when i was induced keeping constant pressure on the cervix caus the moment you lie down there is no weight being applied to the cervix by babys head
