is there any benifits im entitiled to as i stay at home?

hubby is self employed but on get a little amount of money.

we get housing benifits and child and tax credits but is there any thing IM entitled to?

If you are getting HB, WTC and CTC I can't think of anything else! You can claim JSA if you are activly seeking work but if you don't want a job then theres nothing else you are entitled to :)

thanks hun.

no im not activaly looking for a job but why do they expect you to go to work when u got a baby?

your not entitled to JSA full stop! Soon as I married mine was stopped, its stupid they seem to think you can jsut live off your hubby till you get a job!
I have been round the system so many times and there is no way around it!

thanks hun.

Sign of the times hun.....

Unfortunately they expect you to work to keep the economy going. If you are lucky enough to be able to manage on one wage then it's a very rare thing nowadays.

Also, and I think this is very sad, 'house-wife' is no longer on the census as a profession.

Aye I didnt get anything other than my maternity pay - I took the whole year then quit my job (they were trying to make me quit anyway a55holes) and then got a weekend job for my own pocket money once LO was about a year old. OH earns enough to pay the bills but thats it really, so what I earn goes on stuff for the baby and bargins for myself off ebay lol

thanks hun.

Well needs must when you got to pay the bills.

i've been pestered by the job centre to go back to work from when my son was 6mth old despite the fact he breastfed & just would not take milk expressed in a bottle.
Had to attend " back to work interviews " at the jobby despite the fact i was not ready to leave my son & go back to work at all. Plus besides that once we worked out how much i would get doing either full time or part time it was actually £10-£20 a wk more than being on benefits & i wouldn't get to see my son for a whole day 5 days a week now i'm sorry but £10-£20 is not worth missing out on my own childs upbringing & 1st milestones by any means.
I've argued with another lady at the job centre i saw when she said something about china only being allowed so many kids or something daft. I'm not in F**king china !
Soon as it was financially suitable to return to work i was more than happy & when my son started nursery at age 3 in jan this yr i decided to try get a job, Then i obviously got pregnant & that fluffed that idea up. When i told job centre i was pregnant again the lady i saw said oh a lot do that so they dont have to go to work, RUDE !! A very loud arguement started & ended with me being escorted out (oops) i'm due to go back there soon lol

All I get is CTC. Mark gets £8 a week WTC. I am claiming JSA now as I am actively seeking work, but apart from that its just tax credits for us.

income support maybee. i dont no how it works but im on income support and im a stay at home mom however im 18

You can't get anything to stay at home. My daughter needs quite a few operations and has feeding problems and we can't get any financial help and i've got to go back to work to pay the bills. Also we have to travel to birmingham hospital which is 2 hours away, parking is £8 a time and we can't get any help with travel expenses. Its rubbish, surely you should be able to get help if you want to stay at home.

you can only get income if you're a disabled or lone parent
