Hi Ladies

So far, my newborn doesn't seem that keen on taking a dummy :baby: . We've tried MAM and Philips Avent. She either gags on the dummy or will take it for a few moments and then spits it out. Of course, it might be that she just doesn't want a dummy. But it might be that we haven't tried her with one that she feels comfortable with yet...

So, I'm looking for your recommendations on a suitable dummy for an 8 week old. Something fairly small, that won't make her gag.

Thanks

:flower:

Dd loves yhe nuby cherry softflex but nuby wont have them bk in stock for another 3 weeks so im waiting lol ive orderd off amazon avent soothies to see what they are like dd is picky with her dummies

Tommee Tippee have some which are quite small (they have a handle on them). My DD didn't like them though and prefers the MAM, Boots own and tommee tippee plug type dummies.

Philips Avent free flow soothers (for 0-6 months... even when she was older than 6 months lol). My DD used these and was so picky with dummies. We assumed she'd like the Tommee Tippee dummies as i used their bottles when giving an expressed feed but no... had to b the Avent ones. My DS wont take a dummy yet but i will use the Avent ones with him too x

Edited... just read your post properly. I see u have already tried Avent. Mayb try the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature dummies as they have a small teet that may suit better x

Have you tried the mam newborn one? They do one for 0-1 or 0-2 months, my LO took that for quite a while and wasn't keen on moving up to the 0-6 ones until over 3 months, the newborn are quite a lot smaller I've definitely seen them, in tesco, but haven't in boots etc. x

My first wouldnt have a dummy and i now own every single type of dummy possible!

In the end she took a sainsburys latex (yellow teat) one.

My second daughter will only have the tommee tippee orthodontic (ones that kind of flick up at the end) for 0-3 months ones. (she still gags a bit until youve held it in for a few seconds)

I think all babies are different cos my first girl would no way have the tommee tippee ones!

Ive tried mams, nuks, phillips avent, boots, asda little angels, various cherry ones, phillips soothies that came from USA via amazon!

I use the cherry ones with my little boy. Its the only ones he likes or just the cheap 59p ones

My little guy isn't fussy and will take whatever dummy is on offer lol! My favourites are the NUK ones.

My lo also didnt take a dummy well in the early days but I think it's cos his suck was too hard,it would pop out all of the time but he definitely wanted one and it didn't take too long to master it.
He is now a pro lol x

My LO refused all dummies other than Babies R Us own brand dummies until he was 6 months, at which point he has and still will only take MAM ones. It's funny how babies have their preferences!

My LO refuses every single dummy I have ever tried must be about ten different brands in total so I've given up offering them to her! Hopefully your LO isn't the same x

Our little one was gifted with several different kinds of binkies at our shower, but the only ones she actually likes are the silicone 0-6 Nuk and the avent one piece soothies...the nuks we actually found in a version where the shield is one piece with no ring, so it is more difficult for her to pop out of her mouth with her hands...she tried a gerber natural flex, a mam newborn/0-6 and a binky brand by playtex and those werent to her liking :dohh:
