BFing in public & positions

At the minute I can only BF if I'm surrounded by cushions, and Niamh will only feed in the football/rugby position. How do you manage to BF in public? Do you use cushions at all or can your LO BF without them?

I'm guessing this will just come to us in time. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a Bfing cushion or not.

I did use a boppy and pillows at first, but I really never liked that hold your baby likes. Best for us was laying down which obviously doesn't work in public, but we also did just the normal cradle hold and that's what I used in public. Sometimes I would prop my arm on the diaper bag or something so I was more comfortable

When Savannah feeds in football position, I just lay her on the armrest of our sofa, lol. Otherwise whilst in bed I used to use pillows.

I use pillows / whatever I can get hold of Most of the time now she just sits on my lap, pulls my top and bra down and attatches herself!

I don't know about in public yet - but for home - I bought a bf-ing cushion from Argos (£20) and it is the best thing I ever bought! It is so comfy and sometimes I can even fold it up, put a blanket over it and Simeon sleeps on it... and I use it for sleeping on too it is that comfy. x

I never liked using cushions etc.

As for bf out and about, I would take the quietest seat in the cafe and if hubby with me, get him to lean forward to block ppl's view while we do the latching on.

I've never seen any bf pillows that are small enough to take out with you though.

even thou it is still early days for us I am worried about how I am going to do this. I do a modified cradel hold, with the oposite hand supporting the head and my other hand supporting my boob.

I the normal cradel hold I just can't seem to do my boobs are just to big to allow her to get her head anywhere near the nipple

Any ideas...

I'd like to know the answer to this too. It's all hands on deck when Byron feeds as my huge boobs tend to smother his nose most times and need my other hand to free it. Can't imagine how I could feed him in public without showing everything. Thought about a nursing vest but the support isn't good so would still want a bra on defeating the object. I'm going to a Mum and baby group tomorrow and am praying he will sleep through so I don't have to try and feed him as I feel it would look weird to ask for a private space to do it at such a group!

I used the football hold from the start, piled with cushions too and the first time I tried to BF outside the house (in a mall nursing room), I had a nighmare. I felt awful coz all these other mums would just come in, sit down, stick the baby on and chill whereas michael was fighting me coz he wasn't used to the cradle hold (couldn't do football in the chaairs they had). But stick with it. We were in the same mall a few days ago and I was the chilled out mum with the baby attached to me while i read emails on my phone!! It'll come!
