Yeah. I think in America its called baking soda, in Uk bicarbonate of soda.

I tried putting mine in water and it fizzed. Yet when i pee on it it doesnt fizz.

From what iv read its a load of rubbish though!! Kind of fun trying, and will be interesting to find out if it was right!! (touchwood!!)

Lol, yes prob best to check before u wee on it, someone on another thread used baking powder by accident and it fizzed everywhere!! Iv read that some people got fizz one day, then no fizz another so im going to try again, clearly have too much time on my hands!! !!

Hello, I'm 27 weeks pregnant and having a boy. I got a gender ultrasound and have a picture of my little fella's willy so we can't get any more accurate than that but my friend is also pregnant and asked me to do the baking soda test and see if it worked so she could know if it worked on her.. Supposedly if it fizzes its a boy if it doesn't it's a girl.. That's completely untrue I've tried it twice and it hasn't fizzed yet I have proof of the fact I'm having a boy.

whats the difference in your wee to make it fizz or not?

it's supposed to be that if your urine is more acidic, it's a boy. and if it's more alkaline, it's a girl.

i tried it last night with very diluted pee and results were girl. but i tried it this morning with FMU and it fizzed a lot = boy.

so....who knows?

I did this with DD and it barely fizzed with her (like flat soda).

Did it last week w/ this pregnancy and it fizzed A LOT. Like a freshly opened soda.

So we'll see if it's accurate or not lol.
