Bigger Babies Club

My 1st was 9lb 1/2oz at 38 weeks, my second was 8lb13 at 38 weeks and logan was 8lb11 at 36 weeks!! (they said if i had gone term then he would of been 11lb11!!!)

yeh generally babies get bigger each pregnancy but its not a rule there are people whove had smaller babies, I think though they should consider that when it comes to induction for large babies tho! I'd like to think they would help you sooner than 2 weeks overdue (should u go over)

I was lucky with my little man. He was born 8lb 7 after my daughter was 8lb 12.5. He just grew after birth being on 99.6th for length and weight. Met a lady other day whose baby was born 11.5 lb they had to dislocate the babys shoulder to get him out bless.

Hi ladies, Im glad Ive found this group, My little boy isnt huge but Im always getting comments how big he is. He was 8lb 2oz born which I dont think is massive and he certainly didnt look it!! oh first little boy was 9lb 12oz born so charlie is tiny compared to him!!

I had to have gtt test when I was 36 weeks as they said he was going to be over 10lb, charlie lost 2oz when I got hi home and is making up for it now! at 3 weeks he weighed 9lb 7oz and then at 4 weeks he weighed 10lb 11oz so again I dont think he is huge for 5 weeks old. Hes in newborn/0-3 clothes but he is quite tall. oh is 6ft but Im only 5ft 3!!!

mw told me to feed him 5oz but hes on 6oz during day now and 5oz at night, the way I see it how can I over feed him? he will only drink what he wants and if he has too much he will be sick. he has a bottle every 4-5 hours during day and every 3 at night.

Im so worried Im doing him harm feeding him that much? especially when I see other ladies on here saying there lo who are same age are only on 4oz.

wow, sorry for long post!!!

 Hello emmadaisy,

Aw feed you little man as much as he likes, like you say, you can't over feed him! At around a two months I ended up putting Chloe on hungry baby and at first it was against HV wishes but she would eat and eat and eat and just not be satisfied, eating every 2 hrs, I wasn't going to not give her food! So if your little man is happy on 6oz let him have 6oz! :hugs: I hate the way they interfear with feeding sometimes. You can tell by looking at them if they are happy and healty and just go by that and your own instincts :hugs: :flower:

thanks Kte,
your little girl is goregous x Im not going to deny charlie food if he wants it and like i said if he didnt want it he wouldnt eat/drink it! he doesnt always finish the bottle and tbh its only the 2nd day Ive given him 6oz bottles.

people seem to forget that height can affect weight to, charlie is quite tall hes going to take after his daddy (thank god!!) and that is why he weights abit more I think and there is more to fill!!! to look at him he doesnt look fat and he is in clothes for his age but when people hear he is nearly 11lb at 5 weeks there are like "little fatty"

my boys are both tall for their age as well as heavy lol EJ was taking 6-7oz bottles of breastmilk every 3 hours during the day and then 2 bottles overnight too at that age Emmadaisy so dont worry

Count me in too, 9lb 3oz'er here, 15lbs at 12 weeks!

Was so big (WIDE) they broke his collarbone to get him out, I was in labour almost 3 days and pushed for 4 hours! Pushed him just minutes from my crash C-section deadline she gave me (midnight - I got him out at 7 minutes after!!)

aliss- welocome :flower: Ouch! Hope it wont have any affect on him now with them having to do that :hugs: Cute pic!

emmadaisy- Chloe is tall, thats mainly where she comes in as big too. :flower:

HI ladies can i join?
My LO was 11lbs at birth, not fat but really long-62 cms, and was 13lbs 4oz at 6 weeks!
He wasn't a GD baby, we just have big babies in my family, and he was born all naturally too, MWs were freaking out about the birth as i was measuring 47 cms when i was only 37 weeks with him, they thought i couldn't do it, let alone vaginally with no pain relief!

Why do they presume these things?!
Anyhow, he was quite the celebrity at the hospital, they were coming from all departments to get a look, was really embarrassing!

I haven't had too many comments from people really, as he's in proportion, i guess they just think hes older? He looks about 5-6 months old!

He's also really strong and has been pulling himself up to stand when i sit him down to wind him, since he was 6 weeks-crazy he has super strong legs!

Does anyone else not only have a big bubba, but a super strong one too?

Thank you!! Luckily he just had a fracture. Some babies can get nerve damage and unfortunately some can suffer from brain damage or death, so I consider myself pretty lucky!! :cloud9:

PS If he had been a girl, his name would have been Chloe too!!

Of course. Hello and welcome, roc. My little girl is very sassy and stubborn. She loves standing on her feet. She smiles real big and even laughs a bit. A lot of people have commented on it as if it is strange she wants to do it so early. But she has been trying to do it since she was two months old so we are used to it.

aliss, I have never heard of that being done before! Glad you both are doing well. :hugs:

Me neither till it happened to me! It's called shoulder dystocia.

Bigger babies are at risk!

Roc, Billy was a mini celeb at hospital as well all the nurses and midwives were cooing over him and calling him the giant baby! My midwife called in all the students to look at my placenta because it was huge she had her hands in it spreading it about for all the juniors  i donated it to medical research at their request. He has always been really strong as well he was supporting his head at 3 weeks i think a lot of it is his size though even now at nearly a year he is still very big and strong he is in age 2 clothes!

Here's a good one. My hospital notes said...

"Unusually large for gestation" (resulting in shoulder dystocia)

:S Not sure what to make of that one!! I'll always remember him as the "unusually large" one.

It reminds me of this family guy clip

hiya! my LO was big 11lb 14oz at birth so i know what u mean! she was the biggest baby to be born at my hospital i think. but via EMCS, god i dunno how u did it naturally! good on u! she was 14lb 1oz at 5 weeks and 14lb 14oz at 7 weeks
Chloe has always been very strong and trying to pull herself up aswell...and is now nearly walking! seems like only yesterday that i had her!

she will be 1 in 8 days and weighs 24lb 7oz which i dont think is alot considering her birth weight, and she certainly doesnt look it as she is soo long. she is 78cm now.

congrats on birth of LO, he is gorgeus! xxx

NA i dont think that link is true! Cant be! Theres people out there with big babies that were born TINY, its just genetic!

Ava is very strong aswell, She was holding her head up within a couple weeks and has been able to pull herself up for yonks aswell, She has only just started crawling though. I dunno if thats late or not?
