Bigger Babies Club

hi shamrockerjo!

any of you bf when you started weaning did you use ebm in baby cereals/food or formula? i have been expressing but it's such a bind!

hes not having cereals or rice etc... or purees as we are going the BLW route but when he does start having them as he gains spoon control then it will all be done with expressed milk

thanks! i have been expressing. he has about 3oz milk with baby rice/porridge so i'm ok expressing that amount but think it may become a problem when i have to express more!

i can't remember what we did with C! I think it was probably formula in fact - used to just mix a scoop of formula with the rice/porridge and then add the ounce of water if that makes sense!

Anyone's Lo dropped percentile at 10 mnths? Omar was on the 90th at 7 mnths. Today we went to the Dr & he only added 1.5 kgs in 3.5 mnths. He added 5 cms but he dropped frm 90th to 75th for weight. His Dr wasnt concerned.

Morning all,

Hey & welcome shamrockerjo

nmwb78: Chole hasn't exactly at 10 months but she has before this, she was up on the 91st centile then went to the 75th and they didn't seem to concerned either, I think it's if it's a consistently dropping over a period of time :flower:

It's totally normal for their weight gain to slow down a lot when they're on solids (as food has less calories than milk) and also when they become more mobile and are crawling/cruising/walking all over the place as they're burning lots more calories than previously. :D Our GP confirmed this too when we saw her last week and I was asking tons of questions about weaning.

charlotte dropped from 91st to 75th sometime in her first year (can't remember when exactly) but at her next 'weigh in' she was back up again...

Well i'm pregnant again and starting to worry about how big its going to be! This time i'm hoping for a girl so i have 2 of each and because i think girls are normally a bit smaller! Anyway Bill's growth has finally slowed down in fact he has lost a bit of weight and his waist is smaller as his nappys are on the second biggest poppers now instead of the biggest which is good as i was worrying he wouldn't fit in a large for much longer.

Congratualtions Faun :flower: :happydance:

congrats faun!!!

owen was weighed last monday and is still on 91st centile for height and weight and weighed in at 19lbs 4oz. he's not even 5 months and his 6-9 sleepsuits are just right so i give him another month max before he's in 9-12  going to see the HV tomorrow about our sleep issues. despite having 3 big solid feeds and 3-4bf during the day he still wakes at night and will only settle being bf.

its pretty normal in the night for BF babies to still be waking at 4/5 months hun i wouldnt fuss too much , of course its nice when they do learn to sleep through but each baby does it at a different time

Congratulations faun! :flower:

Maybebaby3 - My LO eats 3 times a day (varying amounts as we BLW) and BFs about 6 times a day and usually twice at night too. It's a killer!

Emma still BFs a couple times at night too and she's on 3 meals a day + snacks now

Congrats on your BFP Faun! :flower:

Emma has her 12 month appointment tomorrow and I'm curious to see how much she weighs now. I did a rough guess a couple weeks ago on our home scale (not too accurate) and it was 28-29lbs. She was 26.5lbs at 9 months so I guess it's possible.

owen wakes for bf but also just wakes a lot. i am too soft to do cc though so i guess i'm my own worst enemy :dohh:

I don't do CC or CIO either- I'm too much of a softie too :) I like the snuggles and figure she'll outgrow it soon enough. One of the downsides of having a bigger baby was trying to feed her in the chair in the nursery- she's way too long for us to sit there comfortably.

Emma is now 28lbs even and is 32.5" long at 12 months. My mum believes in the trick where you double the kid's height at 2 yrs old to get his/her final, grown-up height (it has been pretty accurate in our family so maybe there is something to it )- we've obviously still got another year of growing before we can see how tall she'll be, but just based on her height so far, I think Emma's gonna be a tall one :)

certainly sounds like it kaites!!!!!

i have cuddled owen a bit and put him in his crib for his nap. i hope he will go down on his own! fingers crossed. i darent go in to check in case he sees me and starts crying. i can hear him talking to himself! he is soooooooooooo tired but refuses to give in to  why do they fight it so much! :dohh:

My dad swears by that too - in which case DD1 will be 1.8m (5ft 11) (I'm 5ft 9) She was around same height as your LO at first birthday too - growth definitely slowed in 2nd year!!

Bridget just weighed this week - 13lb 14oz at 8 weeks - still 98th centile...
