Bigger Babies Club

i was 8lb 3oz at birth and OH was 7lb 9oz's Noah was born 8 9.5lb, so pretty average. He never lost any weight in his first weeks and basically gained about 1lb a week for the first few months!!

Noah is also the largest of all my friends babies and now he's weaning he seems to be growing quicker still!!

Huge respect for managing a home birth with no pain relief! i was tooting on the gas and air like it was going out of fashion!

When did you ladies strat or plan to start weaning? We waited until Noah was just over 5 months before milk was just not enough anymore!!

x

We weaned at 6 months but he didn't really eat anything until 9 months. Just hated solids. Switched from BLW to TW at 9.5 months (a few days ago!!!) and he's been much better - only one 8oz bottle a night now. He was taking 3-4 8oz bottles a night before

He wasn't too bad, only 9lb 3oz, but his shoulders were very wide and he almost died when he got stuck so that's why I'm going for the C-section next time. Really a shame as I had originally wanted a home birth for #2. Congrats on achieving your natural home birth!!

Oh no, that must have been very stressful & painful :nope: luckily my LO was long and not wide. Or maybe I just have big hips? I'd definitely go for the c-section. Take out all the worry and possible risk. Any plans for no' 2?

Big hips are best ;) #2... no plans but I stopped my pill a few months ago! I think I'm more along the lines of NTNP but when your bubs still wakes 10x a night you don't have much energy (thus the "NT" part of it )

I'm totally with you there  Mine's only been waking 3, 4, 5 times a night for the last few weeks but that's enough for me to be knackered! I remember seeing some of your posts before about sleepless nights. Is it better now he's eating more?

I met up with my friend and her baby girl at bounce and rhyme this morning. Layla had to pop somewhere so I kept an eye on Rue - I had to pick her up as she started to cry and I couldn't believe how light she felt! She is only a week younger than Fran and weighs 2lbs less lol. Fran looks ALOT bigger than Rue, it's crazy!!

i was 6lb 4oz at birth 6 weeks early and OH was 10lbs at birth. we had an 11lb 14oz baby so am very worried what the size of this one will be and if i will have to go for another c-section :(

think my LO could have been a contender when she was younger but now at 18 months she has gone from being born WAYY above the 98.6th line to being on the 91st :D maddness!

Blimey that was a big baby at birth! Will they keep an eye on you with scans to keep track of the size of this one?

How is she now with her size? Your avatar is lovely, she doesn't look big :)

she is 27lbish i think i bit less as this was a geusstimate. i have a growth scan booked for 34 weeks so hopefully i will have a better idea of the size this time :D lol x

Hi,

just came across this thread today and I think I belong...

Baby 1- 8lb 3 oz
Baby 2 - 9lb 11 oz
Baby 3 - 10lb 6 oz

I am dreading how big baby number 4 will be. I am not really tall at only 5'6 yet husband is 6'4" so they get their size from him. My first child stopped being really big by the time he was 2 and is now just average, maybe even slightly under average yet my 3rd baby is still way bigger than his peers.

Well, that is my info, hope you are all well :)

Morning ladies,

I don't know my size at birth sadly, would of been interesting! Chloe was only 6lbs 14oz but she sure shot up the first few months and was on hungry baby food in the end. We began weaning her (TW) about 6.5 months although people were pushing me at 3 but Chloe wasn't interested at all so I waited for her and it has been slow and steady. She certainly has evened out a bit more due to being more active, OH says she is like a duracel bunny :haha:

alybel :hi: Welcome :flower: Congratualtions on your new pregnancy :flower:

well im not the mother of the biggest baby in here any longer lol ive been beaten by an 11lb+ er well done hun,
im sure EJ is still well about the 98.6 centile as hes only just a year and is closing on the 28lb mark, ah well nothing i can do hes a lean baby but really big for his age

Hi guys, sorry I disappeared been busy! I took a picture of Kitty today that illustrates her size and the way she likes travel LMAO!! I think I'm going to have to take her to be weighed, we met a 6 month old little boy today and he was so much smaller than Kitty and also seemed a little less developed if you know what I mean? UGH I'm just a worry wart, I think that I'm worrying because she is formula fed and I really really REALLY wanted to BF her, but had anemia due to bad blood loss and literally my milk never came in, so I was told to stop trying when she lost an awful lot of weight at the start. You read all these obesity is caused by formula stuff and it worries me as I am a big girl and I don't want her to feel like I have in the past, if that makes any sense? But I'm also 5ft 10 so she was always going to be tall (OH is 6ft). Any way here is my lushious darling looking amazing in her ride LOL!!!

Aw hun :hugs: Don't blame yourself for her size. Mine is at 96th percentile, 27lbs at 9 months, but both OH and I are athletes and I'm pretty tiny. It's totally random. Yes, she'll be a tall girl when she's older of course if you are 5'10 and he's 6'0 but obesity factors are much more than just formula use. Yes, the risk factors exist but as parents if we make the effort to model healthy active living then we can reduce it.

She's darling!! Looks like a sassy girl, don't envy you in 13 years! lol! (Watch I'll get pregnant with a girl soon)

Thanks so much for that mate and I know it's true. I have a 10 year old son who is perfect weight for his age:

And although he doesn't have my genetics I have obviously fed, watered and exercised him for 10 years LOL and he is very fit and well, I base every meal around vegetables and lean proteins and I have a phobia of sitting still so my kids are always out in the sun! I guess when she is a little older and weaned onto solids its will all even out!

Thanks for the reality check!

Oh and I saw you NTNP ;) Bring on your own sassy girly!!
