Bigger Babies Club

Happigail - dont be scared to get her weighed, I dont know about everyone else but I have had only positive comments from HVs at his 4 weekly weigh ins, and that was inspite of him skipping up the centile chart every time. Some babies are bigger, its just the way it goes!! Because my boy is going up the chart and he's showing some signs of being more hungry they have encouraged me to start weaning him, which I think is really good because they evaluate each baby and advise you on what is best for them, not what the general guidelines are. My son at under 4 months is bigger than my cousins 8 month old, I think its mad but he's obviously going to be tall.

By the way Kitty is gorgeous!!

:happydance: So nice to have more members :happydance:

happigail: Don't be afraid to take her to get weighed :flower: When I took my LO I sometimes did get the comment of 'ooo we just need to keep an eye on her weight' but they weren't being funny about it, it was to make sure there wasn't any underlying health problems, not becasue she was being over fed or anything. It upset me a little at the time but eventually my LO did even out on the centiles, she didn't stay on the same one for a while, kept on going up, it just took her a few months to even out :flower:

bigbetty: Lovely pictures of Francesca, especially the one of her in the red dress :flower:

1308emma: Its very frustrating hearing those comments, or feeling like a broken record when you meet new people! :hugs: I got a shock once, someone actually said, 'isn't she small' - I didn't know what to say! :haha: Like you say, he is still your baby no matter what his size, it doesn't end any quicker! :flower:

Thanks Kte!

I know all babies are gorgeous, but I just love those with a bit of chub to them - especially cheeks that you could eat lol

Welcome new members! As of last Thursday, Rose is now 21lbs, 3 ounces and over 26 inches long! She's only 4 1/2 months old. I also always get a shocked look when people ask her age. We were actually given a child's menu for her at a restaurant last week, LOL!

Alex has slowed down in his weight gain, now 'only' 27lbs! I wear him everywhere so that's always a good workout and was in an extended rear facing car seat by 5 months. ERF is a concern for very big babies!

Here he is a few days ago. Don't let the picture fool you - that's an 18-24 month suit!!

Here's our other picture for perspective. People think I'm wearing a 2 year old.

thank you for being so welcoming!

All your babies are soooo cute, i love chubby cheeks!! :)

Aliss! Wewll done for wearing your baby, i struggle to carry Noah any distance (such a wimp!!) Also, with rear facing car seat did you chose. Not long until Noah will have outgrown his so doing some serious research at the mo although personal recomendation goes a long way!!

x

I'm struggling to figure out the car seat situation. She's so young but is by next month she'll be at the weight/height limit for rear-facing in her current convertible car seat. We might see about finding one with a higher weight limit, just sucks cause it will be her third car seat we've had to buy. Plus her great-aunts got her one that is just forward facing for when she's older... good thing I want more kids so they can all get some use!

I'm in Canada so I'm not sure where you are from, but the Graco MyRide 65 from Wal Mart has been an absolute dream. My own colicky fussy little guy even fell asleep in it at an open airport!! It's like a Lazy Boy chair just for babies. Highly recommended. A few of the US/Canada girls here in Baby Club have also gotten the same and love it. It's very suitable for a large baby. 45lbs ERF and 65lbs FF so you can use it for many years.

Thanks for that Aiss, i will definately take a closer look at that model. I'm in the UK

@Juless - big babies = big expense!! Noah has got through so many clothes, i feel like i'm constantly buying the next size up. I've become reluctant to spend money on cloths now as he outgrows them so quickly although i've become a sucker for baby toys... i need help!!

Jules: I can't belive they gave you a child's menu!

aliss: Lovely pics of Alex, thats what size Chloe is in but it's (for once) her age group, he certainly is tall :flower:

Having to buy clothes does tend to slow down nearer the 1yr mark thankfully! Chloe is just starting to need 18-24 clothing but she is 16.5 months so it's not as crazy as it used to be! Its been nice to have some fav outfits lasting for one! Just still hard work getting tops with long sleeves for her. She is in 1-2yr old tights and most of her skirts/dresses end up looking like mini's but at least I can get away with it, I think it's a little easier for taller girls than boys in that respect.

Rose can already wear some 18 months, lol

My little lady (yeah, right!) is wearing some 18-24 month old leggins from H&M. The 12-18 month ones she has on right now always end up being 3/4 length, which then looks funny with socks. :haha:

She was weighed this afternoon at 22weeks 1 day and is 22lb 12oz. Is there anyone with a bigger baby out there? She's off the charts and just keeps getting further away from the top line

Dimbo, having my little chunk weighed on Thursday (first time in 4 weeks) so i'll let you know if we can compete for biggest baby on Baby and Bump!! :)

Oh my goodness, she could actually be a contender! I didn't think of it like that. I was thinking that she's the largest of my friends babies... to be a contender to BnB's biggest baby is just downright scary!!

I'm having a C-section next time due to his size. Are any of you worried about subsequent big babies, if they were big at birth??

Also, were you big too? I wasn't really, 8lb 2oz although my sister was 11lb, OH was only 5lb at full term.

I was 8lb 6, hubby was 10 lb 8!

LO was 9lb 0.5oz and I did it naturally at home with no pain relief... not even gas & air. I hope to do the same with the next one too. Although I did have a 3rd degree tear so had to go in for stitching up.

How much did your little guy weigh?

He wasn't too bad, only 9lb 3oz, but his shoulders were very wide and he almost died when he got stuck so that's why I'm going for the C-section next time. Really a shame as I had originally wanted a home birth for #2. Congrats on achieving your natural home birth!!

I think Rose can compete for biggest baby as well! She was born 11 pounds, 10 ounces. As of last Thursday she was 21 lbs 3 ounces, over 26 inches long. I can't imagine what she'll be at in another month! She's 98th percentile I believe? hehe

And then watch, she'll be 110lbs at her high school graduation  Soooo typical.
