I will be 36 weeks on Thursday. I was admitted to the hospital Monday and came home today, but yesterday they did a biophysical profile in which I scored an 8 out of 10 (passing). The only thing the baby didn't do in the thirty minutes we were on ultrasound was "practice breathing". has anyone had experience with their babies not doing this on ultrasound? Concerned because we will probably have an early c section next week due to my blood pressure.

Well, I had an ultrasound a week ago where they first started looked for practice breathing. My LO is doing practice breathing but the tech said that it is usually around 36-38 weeks.

Hope that helps!

I'm not sure wht u mean by practice breathing wht does it look like? At my 30wk u/s my babies were obviously drinking amniotic fluids and swallowing it was so cool!

Mine has O MY HAT it is a strange feeling...

Hi,

I am having a similar issue what u r facing. First the problem started where i felt baby movements was very less. They started monitoring the baby with NST and it was normal and had an ultrasound where they gave a report as no breathing movement is there and then another ultrasound was scheduled and everything was fine and i had another ultrasound where there was no breathing movement and i was shifted to second level ultrasound and found everything to be normal but my liquid level started to drop.

So now am 34weeks and they have scheduled BPP and NST every week. Drink lots of fluid and have good foods definitely everything will be fine. Actually in a day baby will be breathing 30minutes not the entire day so need not worry sometimes when they scan baby might breathe otherwise they don't if no mood. Try to keep more active

Happened to me, baby actually failed the Bio with a 6 so they kept me overnight on monitors and did it again the next day where he passed. I was 37 weeks.

Had to double check the bio is 8 points and you get 2 more for the NST.

My LO has been "practice breathing" since 32 weeks. It took the Technician a while to get him to do it at that time though.

I've never heard of this test - maybe they only do it in the US x

me neither, don't think it's done in the UK. I know she has been practising breathing for a few weeks now though as the sonographer pointed it out at one of the growth scans.
