Birthday present for a 7yr old boy??

It's my friend's little boy's 7th birthday next week and I don't have any clue at all what to buy for him.

I was hoping you lovely ladies might have some idea what 7 year old boys like?

A couple of clues I have are

-He likes playing computer games, I think he's into skylanders and that kind of thing. But I can't get him anything like that because my budget is only about £10
-He's into super hero's like spiderman, batman etc
-He's very grown up for his age so, for example, batman pyjamas would be the height of uncool
-He's very intelligent for his age so a lot of the stuff he plays with is for a higher age group

Please help!

Skylanders book/annual (not sure if that's a thing)

Skylanders stuff has all different prices. You could get a small pack for less than $10, and just put a gift receipt with it. I actually just did this for a friend's sons bday party this summer. The large packs are like $20-30, but they sell them individually, too, for $5-15 depending on the item.

Ooh I didn't realise skylanders could be that cheap. I will investigate....

Failing that, I bet he would enjoy some sciencey type stuff
