LO's birthday is on the 15th jan and for the first few years he will just have seperate birthday/ christmas but when he starts realising i am thinking of explaining to his that i am going to save some of his birthday money so he can have a present mid summer i.e new swing or a new bike ready for the summer/ 6 weeks holiday cause nearly a year is a long time to wait for a new 'big' toy (i dont believe in children getting something 'big' just for the sake of it)

Mizzy i agree, When Ava is old enough we will have a little mid-year bday celebration, maybe around my bday, ill share mine with her or something (june). A year is a long time and its hard to buy toys that will last a year!

i'm glad someone agrees, most people i have mentioned it to think its a silly idea

No def not, I cant remember who i spoke too but someone told me they LOVED it because every year she got a ''half birthday'' celebration because her bday was so close to xmas and she hated it, so her and her mum has special celebration mid year and she loved it! she said she cried when she became to old to get the half birthday anymore! ha ha!

lol, i was lucky as my birthday was september, so wasnt too bad, what age would you start it? im thinking about 3 or 4...

Im not sure, prob 3 or 4 when they understand why... dont want them to think they just get 2 birthdays  They need to understand why and agree with it i think, I;d rather she could tell me that its a good idea and she'd love it, rather than expect it from whatever age and never know why she has a special day in june if that makes sense

yeah, i doubt any child would disagree to having 2 birthdays though lol, spose it depends on how mature they are at that age iykwim
