Bleeding after c-section --how long? and when should everything get back to "normal"

I had an emergency c-section 3 weeks ago. I'm still having some bleeding, sometimes more than others. How long will this last? I didn't have regular cycles before getting pregnant so is there a chance I may now? When should I expect this to happen?

I stopped bleeding around 3-4 weeks after my section. I tended to bleed more on the days where is "done more" or exerted myself a little.

I'm not sure that having a section will regulate your cycles, I'd speak to your go about that. Also breast feeding will impact on your cycles if you're doing that.

I guess I should say that I am not breast feeding as our little guy was not able to make it.. and also, I didnt know if there was a chance that pregnancy could have regulated them somehow?

I don't think it regulates your cycles, I've just done a little bit of reading and can't see anything that suggests that it would regulate them. From what I've read, it says to monitor when you ovulate. I know you can get assistance with regular cycles from the doctors, but I know it can take a little while after pregnancy for them to return to normal.

If your we're regular before there's a good chance they'll return to normal. Xxxx

Thanks. I wasn't regular before.. well I was then took birth control pills for 3-4 years. When I stopped in January 2012, they were no longer regular. I guess I will have to wait and see.

I bled after my planned section for 2 weeks after then on & off for another 2 weeks.

Thank you. Well today is 3 weeks out, so hopefully I'm about there! I'm SO ready to get back to normal. It was kind of hard having all of these experiences that come along with having had a baby that every time you turn around you're reminded in a way of what happened and what you don't have.. but it's okay. Things will turn out better next time!

I bled regularly for about 1.5-2 weeks, and then on and off for about 2-3 weeks. But we started having sex at 1.5 weeks, so that probably didn't help the bleeding. Now we've stopped until I hit the 6 week mark. So everything went back to normal for me at 2 weeks, no more pain or anything.

I am just trying to get a general idea on that because mine were NOT normal before I got pregnant so I have no idea what to expect as far as that goes..

I think breastfeeding has a lot to do with when your cycle returns too, so keep that in account. But I'm wondering that too; I have no idea when to expect a normal cycle to start.

So I'm going on week 5 now and suddenly this week I started bleeding again. It's mostly brown blood, but there's some red in it too. I so want this to go away and stop coming and going!

Thank you. I'm not breastfeeding as our little guy wasn't able to make it unfortunately. I'm so ready for this business to stop though. Ugh! Lol. I'm not really complaining though. I'm thankful for the experience and getting to have him for the 39 weeks we did. At least I'll have a clue for the next time around (hopefully!)!

It's been 4.5 weeks since mine and I'm still bleeding off & on. Since around day 6 it's been off & on and more like spotting then constant bleeding.
