Hi ladies
I'm 11 weeks 4 days pregnant with identical twins. Two days ago I had major bleeding and raced to the er to find out that the bleeding had stopped and both babies were there with heartbeats. I had bled for about 4 hours filling at least 1 pad an hour. Today I'm spotting brown which seems like old blood. I dont go back to my peri until tuesday and I'm really nervous. Did this happen to anyone else and was everything ok? Thanks

Hi hun. I bled at 10 weeks. I wouldn't call it "major" (nothing close to soaking pads) but for about a day it was definitely present and varied from light to dark red, and the second day, was brown. I had an US right away as well, and both babies were fine. They could see a small bleed near one of the placentas and indicated it would likely bleed out or absorb, and there was a good chance of no more bleeding. That's exactly what happened, I've not bled nor spotted at all since that day, even after internal scans, sex, etc.

Did they see any source of the bleed on the ultrasound?

Although it sounds like your bleed was a little heavier than mine, my story has turned out positive thus far and I very much hope yours does too. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for the response, he said there was a bleed and that my cervix was closed and babies were fine. Its just bleeding in pregnancy is such a nerve wracking thing.

It totally is. I figured when it started that it was surely the end for my babies. Clearly that wasn't the case with me, as we've made it 20 more weeks and have only a few more to go.

I've heard bleeding is more common with twins...who knows.

If babies are fine now and the bleeding has stopped or turned brown, it sounds like things are looking up. Wishing you the best outcome. Keep us updated.

I had 2 really bad bleeds and was convinced both times that was it, but I now have 2 beautiful litlle babies. I was told by my clinic that bleeding with twins is really common..

Thanks for all your responses ladies, it really helps to make me feel better. I go see my peri Tuesday and will see the babies again. Hoping this was just some weird bleeding and everything will be fine.

I had a heavy bleed at 14 weeks, i then persisited to lose brown blood for about two weeks afterwards. I now have two very healthy 5 month old twin boys. They never found a reason why i bled.

Hi Hun

I had two bleeds, one at 11 weeks and one at 13 weeks, the first was a big gush and lasted a day and then I had a week or so of brown stuff. I just thought it was clearing up then I bled again, and again this lasted a day or so and then had brown stuff for another week or so. Both times my babies were fine, good heartbeats, good movement etc.

I was told the bleeds were from a hemotoma on one of my placentas (my twins are fraternal so have seperate placentas) and as Amanda above said, I was told it would need to bleed out or be absorbed by the body.

I drove myself mad at the time reading on google good and bad stories, BUT most stories have happy outcomes and you just need to stay really positive. I had no problems with bleeds after that so obviously the docs were right.

Just get plenty of rest, put your feet up and I really mean get in bed for a few days and do nothing. Sending you lots of positive vibes :hugs:

I bled at 13 weeks. A lot. So much that I was sleeping in bed woke up screaming. Went into shower and clots were coming out. Went to ER and babies were fine and it didnt happen again. Please take it easy. Lay down more often than you usually do and STOP STRESSING. It will be fine! Best of luck!! (((hugs)))) I know it;s very scarey.
