Bloody hell. Aiden is 5 days old....over the night he has has 5 feeds!! Each time he's taking between 30 and 50 mls....I don't know what that is in ounces, I've been using up the rest of the hospital bottles of Aptamil since I got home yesterday. The midwives said he gorges hgimself and is a VERY hungry boy....but this is ridiculous!! Is this way too much? Will he chill out and stop being a piglet soon??

Hi Katie! Congrats on your little boy. He won't know the diff between night and day yet so he will just feed at the same frequency he does during the day...more if he is sleeping for very long periods during the day as most newborns do :) 30-50ml sounds fine, not a lot at all. My LO was taking 40ml of EBM every 2 hrs-ish at a time as a newborn...

congrats!! Its totally normal hun dont worry, newborns usually like to feed little and often, I would just feed on demand, it wont be long until he finds a feeding routine! x

He is taking between 1~2oz ....my lo did this for 3 wks every 2~3 hrs ...it gets easier i promise xxx

congratsxxx

luisa was havin 2-3ozsevery 3 hours untill 9 weeks ish but tht was ebm

xx

Like everyone else said its normal, at 5 days old my little piggy was having 50mls every 3 hours on the dot :hugs:

Yeah Freya was on 1-2oz every 2 hours for about 2 weeks then up to about 3oz every 2 hours.

Congrats!

Their tummies are tiny at this stage so they take in only a bit and get hungry more often.

By the end of the month, your LO will take in more ounces at a time which will more than likely fill his tummy for a longer period of time.

Congrats, btw!

Congrats hunni!

Brady was only having 30ml every couple of hours for the first few days, the midwives at the hospital said that this was normal. He does occaisionally take me by surprise though and want feeding earlier, I've found the ready made cartons a life saver for this rather than having him screaming while a bottle cools down!

He's now on 120-150ml every 3-4 hours which I thought was too much, but again the HV said was pretty normal, just give them however much they want, they will throw up what they dont need.

congrats on Aidens birth :happydance:

I had Caitlin on th 24th. At the moment she's taking between 30ml -50ml every 3 hours.
