Hi,

Hoping to hear stories of peoples TTC journies with bocked fallopian tubes.

I went through lap surgery 2 years ago which diagnosed me with blocked fallopian tubes on both sides :( I was never told what the blockages are. Fast forward 2 years and i am going to have another lap surgery to see where i am up to now and to possibly clear the blockages.

Has anyone got any experience with blocked tubes on both sides, surgery to unblock them, TTC with blocked tubes. Or did you go straight to IVF?

Thanx :)

I think it depends on your age and the experience of your doctor. Some docotrs will suggest IVF if your over 35 because your chances of having a sucessful conceptions without the tube issues decreased significantly at that age. Many doctors are not very experinced with fertility and its inhibitors so they dont perform the surgery in a way that is helpful in conceiving naturally. For example, they are not gentle while inside of you and cause scar tissue.

Hope this helps.

I had a blocked left tube and it opened with my HSG....hoping to try soon as my husband gets home which is later than planned he's deployed any updates I'll be sure to post them I cant try this cycle now but next cycle he'll be home in time!

I just wanted to wish you all the best for your lap and dye ..

I too have recently been diagnosed with bilateral hydrosalpinx so am in limbo at the moment awaiting a follow up consulation

Im doubtful that they will try to unblock them but really dont like the idea of having to have them removed before having IVF ..:nope:

Anyhoo best of luck and I hope you get some answers soon ..:dust:

hi there.well I dont have both tubes blocked.. I am missing my right from an ectopic pregnncy and the other has severe narrowing..for the last year we have just been dealing with baby loss last nov 2nd but now finally feel its a good time to try..before I just keep getting older.ivf isnt an option for us but our doctor and a shady grover fertility specialist recommended it to us.. they also wanted to take out my remaining tube which i really didnt like either. OO i wishyou the best of luck I see tons of miricle stories on here all the time I hope we can all have our own!!! awesome luck to you

Hi Foxy,

I had both the tubes blocked even after laparoscopy...Dr said its genetic disorder and cant be corrected...I had sacculated tubes...(lap done after 2 yeards of TTC at 33 years) then the Dr suggested to go straight to IVF....

But another Dr suggested to try IUI few times. (I appreciate Drs confidence, he even mentioned that the tubes expand a little by HCG shots which was also given to stimulate follicule groth during the IUI cycle) I was pregnant with first IUI itself. ... But I miscarried... with in a month of miscarriage i conceived natuarally again... Now I am 15 weeks with minor health complications...

So miracles do happen.... have a lot of faith... in my case this wa due to faith and prayers i believe... Even with blocked tubes we tried with hope evey month... prayed and thanked a lot...

Go ahead for Lap... its important to understand what kind of block you have prior to lap to assess the success rates too... If its tissues growth and all, it takes time to naturally conceive... in that case you need to consider your age factor too...then one two IUI cycle....

Sending a lot of love and prayers your way....

Love, s

I was also diagnosed with bilateral hydros this past January:cry:
My doctor says we can fix them (25% pregnancy rate and only in the first 6 months after) or move straight to ivf (45% pregnancy rate per cycle at this particular clinic).

Everything I have read - and believe me I have read it all (from scientific journals to forums to webmd) say that before proceeding to ivf you must have them removed:cry:

When I look up hydrosalpinx and salpingostomy (repair), it actually tries to reroute me to salping-ectomy (removal).

I am having a really tough time with this. However I am 36 and do not have time to waste with trying this and that to get my bfp. Looks like removal is the only option for me.

Hi I have been diagnosed with cornual block in my left tube. The right tube is normal in course and caliber, however no spillage is seen.Does this mean even the right tube is blocked at the end? What are the chances of opening the blockages with lap? Thanks in advance.I am 31.Should I go directly to ivf?

I had an ectopic in each tube and was told they were both blocked. Fell pregnant with DS just 3 weeks after being told that! I was having acupuncture at the time and really believe that's what helped me. Now TTC #2 for almost a year and no luck so have started acu again.
I would get in the queue for IVF if I were you and hope for a natural conception in the meantime. Miracles can happen to anyone. :flower:
