Hi all, I've not posted for a while and have acually been trying not to spend too much time on B&B as I was gettng quite depressed for a while. However, I have been feeling quite positive recently and that probably because I felt like I was getting things moving as far as investigations etc. I went to see a consultant privately and within 1 month I had the inital consultation and 2 procedures done (both carried out at the same time).

I had a lap&dye and a hysteroscopy done last friday. The cons did give me the results that afternoon but I think I was still too out of it from the GA to fully comprehend what he was telling me. The procedures went fine, I had quite painful shoulder and also spotted for 2 days, and still have quite a sore abdomen today, however I was back at work today. I called him today to talk me through his findings from friday again.

He told me one tube is completely clear and there was a good flow of dye thru that tube. However, the other tube, the right one, he couldn't get any dye to flow thru that one at all, so there is some kind of blockage. But he said he didn't know what could be causing it, and recommeded a scan to complete the investigations ("for completeness" he said). I have a post-op follow up appt with him in 2 wks time to discuss that further. However, I was wondering if anyone knew what knd of scan he was referring to? Or what the next steps would be in such circumstances since I have one tube functioning correctly? He didn't seem to think it was any cause for concern but I obviously do....it's me that wants the bubba not him...!!

You have one tube open, which is good. A laparoscopy might be able to help determine if it's a removable blockage or if you'll only be able to rely on the other ovary and tube. All you need is one tube, and true it may take twice as long to conceive, but trying naturally may take less time than taking a break of several months to go through testing.

For the record, I've been in the position of a blocked tube. Only both of mine are blocked.

Hi Aria, thanks for taking the time to reply. I realise I should be grateful for the 1 correctly functioning ovary and tube and there are others in worse situations, so I'm trying to keep a P.M.A. I was just really unsure what further investigations would be done and what kind of scan my cons was talking about, but I guess I will just have to wait till I see him again in 2 wks and talk about it with him then.
BTW, Congratulations on your BFP! It's nice to hear about the success stories as well!!

I wasn't trying to play a "who has it worse" game, just let you know that I've dealt with clogged tubes, for nine years, so have some insight. :) Sometimes blockages could be removed, and certain scans and tests can help determine this. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones whose blockage can be removed. :)

Any more for any more on this one?? I guess from nickysdestiny's post that the scan the cons was referring to is either a vaginal or abdominal u/s??
