Hi everyone!

Just after some info or advice please if anyone has any?

I'm not sure if I should be posting here, but I thought that someone else may have had similar issues!

I stopped taking the pill on September 22nd this year because we wanted to ttc. 11 weeks later and still no :witch:

Worried, I made an appointment with the docs, who reassured me that everything was fine, but wanted to send me for some blood tests just to check.

I know that I had three blood tests done 1 for LH 1 for FSH but the other one I cant remember! :dohh:

Called yesterday to get my results and the receptionist told me that 2 came back fine, but the doctor would call me back about the other result when shes back in work on wednesday as she needs to discuss that with me!!!

Worried and a little scared I just agreed and didnt ask any questions about what results came back fine and which one didnt

Just wondering if anyone else has had these kind of tests done? what they are for? what kind of problems bad results can cause????? etc etc.

Really need some more info as not sure what to even research and look into etc for more advice and knowledge

More info : am 24, started taking micrigynon 30 at 18 ish and never had any breaks from it until September this year!

Thanks girls, look forward to getting some feedback and some help!

Hi
I had blood tests at day 21. They tested numerous things including thyroid function, and cholesterol etc. But i think the important fertility ones are FSH, LH and the one you have missed out Progesterone. I think progestrone at day 21 shows if you are ovulating or not.

FSH and LH are usually taken day 3 but i think they can still get a good indication at day 21 also and if theydont look right on that reading they take another reading at day 3.

FSH levels relate directly to the number of eggs a woman has on reserve, referred to as “ovarian reserve. LH is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland of your brain. Its level surges just before ovulation; it is responsible for the egg being released. It is the hormone whose level is most commonly measured in home urine ovulation kits.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, I guess Im going to have to wait untill tomorrow to find out which test she wants to talk to me about and what the problem with that result was.

I just feel so scared and worried about what problems I might come up against and not having any info to go on doesnt help, so I am probs worrying over nothing, but just can't help myself!!

Any body had problems or unusuall results? and what happened next?

Hi nnn84,
Try not too worry too much hun. I had blood tests done in the past and had to ring back for results etc.... I was worried and they just wanted to tell me to take iron tablets.

Take care hun and good luck for tomorrow

It can take months for the pill to get out of your system. Don't panic! If you're worried though, go to the doc.

An Update,

Spoke to the doctor today! She was very reasurring.

Although not all the tests have come back, she did say that the kidneys / Thyroid and anemic ones came back fine.

But one of the results suggsts that I may have pcos (I think thats how it's shortened!) They can't be sure as they are not sure where in the cycle I am due to no period etc. They will be sending me for an ultrasound (internal i believe) to get a better idea on this.

So next question for you girls!!!

Anybody suffer with PCOS had an ultrasound etc what did they find? What did they do? Were they able to tell you straight away? Have you had PCOS and still had children etc. Would be good to know!

Thanks Everyone! Your support is brilliant and does really help.

Hey

Try not to worry or stress, I do too, but have had to think there is absolutely nothing I can do about any of the results for tests now, i can only try improve my results in future buy eating well etc.

As you have not been to the RMU yet it may help if i tell you what happened to me as i expect its pretty much the same everywhere. I was worried too about what happens and could not find any info so i hope this helps.

I too had blood tests at the doctors as I suddenly had a couple of early periods when i have always been like clockwork. They did day 21 and everything came back fine but the nurse messed up and didnt get enough blood for the MOST important one that day! I ended up having to go back for the progestrone on day 25 - and about 2 hrs later i got my period, so obviously since progestrone drops with AF it indicated i was not ovulating and therefore they refered me.

Since then i have been for the first "induction" as i called it where my husband and I met with the fertility specialist who asked various questions about your cycle, how long you have been together, history of children, etc, and then to my surprise (dont know why i thought it would just be a chat at first!) said they always do the normal checks for any STIs and things while the nurse was at it she did a smear too (boy was i glad i had done my bikini line the night before!!!!!......It was failry funny actually as to my surprise my husband was sat in the room with me while the "inspection" was done!!!! When the nurse left we wet ourselves laughing as i was laid on the table legs a kimbo and said to him I hope they dont expect you to sit there and do your "sample" right now too!!! I think it was a good thing that he saw what us women go through and his worry about being asked to give a sperm sample was well and truly over after he saw what we have to go through!

Anyhow, that was the first visit. After my "MOT" the specialist then said he wanted me to have more blood tests as they always do there own there regardless of the docs (think the docs ones are just proof the doc has to provide to get you your referral in the first place to be honest) I have to do follicle tracking where they track your cycle and also have a HSG where they pump dye into your tubes and exray for blockages etc!!

At my first scan last week she found a small cyst on the right ovary, if this happens to you try not to worry either as to be honest after googling i have found that they are extrmely common and most women have one at some point but dont even know it. Also I too thought i had pcos, but turns out its just one cyst.

Hope this helps you :) :hugs:

And try not to worry, what ever the result there is nothign worrying will do to help it will just stress you more and that aint good for the body :)

Thanks for that!

It really does help knowing that your not the only one going through this! And the funny stories are great :-)

Its just so anoying having to wait for answers and test results all the time!

How long have you been ttc for? Have you any children already.

I am glad that I have a good doctor really from some of the stories I have heard!
I came off the pill late september this year - didnt get AF, have been sent for blood tests had some results back and waiting to get an ultrasound date within the next week or so, so the last 2 1/2 months since comming of the pill has been hectic!

So compared to people who have been waiting months, I don't have much to complain about!

I am going to try and loose a little weight over the next month as well to see if that makes any difference (if it is pcos) Not sure if it will do much difference as I am only slightly over weight. Need to loose about a stone. Am 9.5 stone now but need to be 8.6 stone to be ideal weight for my height of 5ft ish.

How are you feeling and whats next for you and your DH!

xx:hug:

Hi nnn84

Yes i am a worrier too, I actually have my second scan tomorrow morning!!! maybe get bloods results then too!!!

Its funny tho, i thought i had pcos as i had some symptoms like, at 32 and still get spots, light periods, put on wieght easy etc etc. Turns out it is one cyst so my symptoms are prolly to do with that but at a lesser rate than pcos.

I too am on a diet!!!! The weighed me on my first meeting at the RMU and i was HORRIFIED to find out i had managed to TROFF that much in 7 months that i had put on a stone!!! At least i now have an excuse in that I have an ovarian cyst :happydance:

So in last 2 weeks i have been running like a loony and eating lettuce with the occasional carrot, and have managed to loose 5lb :happydance: I am 5'9 and 12 stone!!!! I have never been much more that 10.5 to 11 stone so you can imagine my SHOCK! I am usually a size 12-14 but hte 14s were getting on the tight side so action defo had to be taken!

I too read that being overweight increases your chance of cysts so my plans for binge eating over Christmas are well and truly out of the window, if i don't want to look like porky pig by January!

My hubby and I have been trying for about a year and 4 months....well you could say that we didnt try for a month last xmas as i had lots of parties to attend and didnt want to risk getting pregnant and the baby popping out still half cut! Also there were a few months where i just could not be bothered "doing the deed" at the right time of the month so i knew we didn't stand a chance then :dohh: but all in all its got to have been about a year since we started trying and unfortunately nothing is happening.

Got the in-laws up at xmas too and am worried that they will drop the usual hint about us making them grandparents.........i will have to bite my tongue rather than shout SHUT the hell up we are blooming trying for gods sake stop going on about it! :) So as you have probably realized, no we don't have any children yet, i have been too much of a career girl to start just yet, tho somehow i think i always knew that i would have problems conceiving, don't really know why ??? Maybe everyone feels like that???

Unlike you tho i have always had regular periods but since coming of the pill mine have been very light, bleed fairly heavy 1st day then pitters out over next 2 days with only bit of spotting on remaining days up to day 5. Dont know how common or normal that is??? There do seem to be a lot of people on here with erratic periods tho so maybe someone else could talk to you about that?

Anyway, its good talking to people who are going through the same......i have only just found this forum too and its really helping :) I maybe back with yet more embarrassing stories after my scan tomorrow!!! :)

Have you still not got your AF???

:hugs:

It does make a difference having someone to talk to who is going through a similar problem. Friends are either popping them out all over the place, or simply not at that stage yet!! And yes - my in-laws are dropping hints left right and centre here too. It can get annoying, especially because we just got married this year and everyone seems to be asking - you pregnant yet!!!

Nope - still no AF and it's week 11 already!!!!

Christmas is hectic! I know Im going to struggle with the diet this year (she says, munching her way through a big tin of chocolate orange with DH as we speak!!!) But the shopping has kept my mind off things a bit though!!

Can't wait to hear more of your stories from your next scan! Hope it all goes well for you - Keep me up to date - I would love to know how things went for you both.

As soon as I have any more news I will also let you know!

Thanks for yor help, and it's been good to chat!

:hug::hug::hug:

Yeah, good to chat, you take care and keep me updates on your news. wouldnt worry too much about AF tho as it can actually take a while for pill to come out of system, my periods felt like pill type periods for at least 4 months then they suddenly went back t a normal period, cant really explain the difference but you prolly know what i mean, discomfort etc.

Take care for now
xx

I know this is not what most don't want to hear. (I sure didn't). But, it can take 3-6 months for your body to regulate and start ovulating again after birth control. That's why infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of trying to conceive. Most doctor's won't run tests until you have been TTC for 12 months. Statistically it's take couples an average of 6 months to get pregnant.

So, 11 weeks......probably no reason to be too alarmed yet, honey.

Just keep having fun trying to get pregnant! : )

Thanks for the reply! I would love it if my body was just waiting to ovulate after being on the pill! Nobody really said that to me before, but I guess it makes sense. Once you mention 11 weeks, everyone just seems to think problems!!

Thanks for you reply! Im hoping your right :-)

xx:hug:

You should go to the trying to conceive forum and connect with some people there. There might be some people in the same boat as you. All of us (most of us) in the long term trying to conceive forum have been trying for years and are using IUI or IVF or medications to try to conceive.

I'm not trying to kick you out. : ) We like having you here so stay here too!!

Also, took me 6 months to start ovulating after coming off of the pill.

Thanks Vineyard!

Have posted there too!!! lol Just trying to get all the advice I can. Thinking I might be panicking over nothing though, and I should wait and see! Did you have a period in that 6 months or were you not Ovulating and no AF????

Thanks Guys

n xx

I did have a period but it was incredibly irregular. Sometimes 26 days, sometimes 45 days. But, I was not ovulating. So, I don't mean to downplay your feelings because this is indeed a stressful thing. But, there is more than likely no reason for you to panic until it's been a year. My advice is to have fun trying to get knocked up. :sex:

Hiya nnn84

Has the :witch: turned up yet? Have you got your scan appointment through yet too?

Hey chick,

I suffer from PCOS. I have had lots of bloodtests, and lots of internal ultrasounds! Though for me, when I came off the pill I had alot of very strange symptoms. (Hair growth, skin breakouts, weight gain around my stomach, no bleeding) Do you have any symptoms other than lack of period? My doctor was able to diagnose me straight away, though didn't really do any searching for problems until I reached the 6 months mark. After that she got the ball rolling and had suspected pcos with the bloodtests, and confirmation with the scan. Hope this helps a little. x

Still no:witch: yet and no ultrasound date! How did your day go? Did you have another scan?

No other symptoms either that I can think of. Just no :witch:!
Since comming off the pill though, I have had a couple of positive opk my bbs have been a little tender and had a little cramping - not major but they have all seemed to disappear now!

so don't know whats happening!!
