I didn't know where to post this.

Since pregnancy/birth (3 years ago!) my sweat is stronger. I need to change deodorants every few months as it seems they stop working after a while. I am at that stage now, and it's very embarrassing as I smell like a bloke after a hard day's work :nope:

anyone with a similar problem?
any tips?

Have you tried a deodorant called driclor? Its really good x

thank you!
Never heard of it before - sounds good but the reviews about itching and even pain made me a bit concerned.
have you tried it?

Yes me!!! I'd never bought anti-persperant before I was pregnant. Rarely ever needed deodorant because I just didn't need it. Now I need to respray a few times a day. It's awful.

Perspirex is good and you only have to apply a few times. I admit it did sting a little but i know i have sensitive underarms. But i sort of put up with the few minutes of pain as the results were so good and i didnt have to apply tht often. But thats just me not the most sensible person in the world lol
It is expensive but lasted ages really helped me. Oh another thing is it smells quite clinical and you apply before you go to bed but the smells gone by the morning. Haha

Yeah i used for a while maybe up to a year. I found that when it stung it was because i was over applying it. I didnt believe that it would last 48 hours without reapplying it so i was doing it every day but it became too much so after a while i reduced it to every 3 days then normal deodorant in between worked really well for me. Worth a shot. i got mine from boots so its easy to get hold of x

I actually started making my own, because I couldn't find one that lasted all day before I felt like I was starting to smell and needing to reapply throughout the day. Honestly, best thing ever. I was skeptical, but figured, what the heck, I already have the stuff to make it, so I can just toss it if it doesn't work.

The recipe I use is:
1/4 cup corn starch
1/4 baking soda
4 tbsp coconut oil
5 drops tea tree oil
4-5 drop lavender oil
Mix well

That type of thing is what I was after.

how do you apply it?

I just store it in a glass bowl with a lid, and apply with my finger tip. Just scoop out a small amount, rub it on the pits, and good to go:) LOL. One thing to mention, though, make sure to store it in a cool, dry area. The coconut oil will melt if it gets too hot. I found this out when we were traveling, and I left the container in the car on a 90 degree F day. Whoops. It turned into soup, lol. It does reharden once cooled, though.

Here's the link to the homemade deodorant I make:

I use a great deodorant crystal. I bought my original one in Australia over 20 years ago and it lasted for years. You can buy the same thing in a stick form at health shops, I've seen it in Holland and Barrets. You wet the crystal, wipe it under your arm and let it dry. It is unscented so doesn't mask odours, instead it kills the bacteria that cause the smell in the first place. It was recommended to me by a very sceptical man who didn't believe in anything 'alternative' but couldn't believe the difference it made to him when he eventually tried it. Can I also ask if you eat much in the way of red meat? If you do and you are able to cut back on it this to can help. Good luck.

that's very interesting, thanks!

re. your question - no, I do not eat red meat at all actually

This is the one I have now https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/crystal-spring-natural-deodorant-60071585

I still have a few bits of my original one left (I dropped it in the sink and it shattered unfortunately), I use them if I have mouth ulcers and have a friend who has a chunk that he uses for foot odor.

For mouth ulcers you sit the crystal in cold water for a while, take it out and dry it off then use the liquid as a mouth was - it tastes very lemony and leaves your mouth quite dry (slightly strange).

For feet again sit it in a basin of water for a while and then soak your feet.

I don't eat red meat either and most of the time I don't have a problem but I have to say that at the moment I'm noticing my own smell more than normal - I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I've changed in my diet/life style that may be contributing.

Hope it works for you.

thanks again rags
I got one and I tried today for teh first time
Did it work immediately for you? I think I still smell but maybe not as bad?

It worked pretty quickly for me - are you having any success with it?
