so, I just got my d3 blood results and my TSH is 5. My doc previously said that my TSH may be a bit high and tested my T3, T4 and ATA and all came back normal. However, the more I read about it, the more I think that 5 may be too high to support a pregnancy. I don't want to tell the doc how to do her job, but I wonder if I should ask her about this? Anyone with a similar experience?
Could this be the reason I'm not pregnant yet?

thanks!!!

My FS said that TSH levels need to be under 2.5 for ttc. Your level is technically normal for all other standards, not ttc. It doesn't make any sense though! My TSH was at 3.1 when i was checked and the FS put me on synthroid to get it in the right range. You should definitely talk to your dr about your concerns. If she won't listen, then you need to switch dr's if you can. I hope this helps.

thanks teddy!
I did talk to her and she put me on synthroid - very low dose 25mcg per day, but it's a start. what dose are you on?

Hey there,
I want to reassure you a bit that I have had an underactive thyroid since 17 and as the correct dose according to my levels gave me side effects (palpitations & shakes). Been under-dosed since then and was pregnant 3 times in my 20's so it's my experience that it doesn't have as much of an effect on fertility as certain 'experts' think.

I don't know how long you've been trying, but I wouldn't assume it's your thyroid, I'd ask for all other tests too. It's better knowing sooner so you don't spend a long time wondering, not knowing is awful xxx

thanks for reassuring me a bit. I was actually hoping that this was the problem, as otherwise I don't have many other issues (thin lining and low estrogen - but I was hoping maybe even that could be due to being hypothyroid). I guess now I'll add sythroid to my repertoire of fertility drugs and hope that helps :)
