My son has been in a bottle strike for the passed two months. I was hoping he would have given it up by now, but hasn't. He is EBF, but I would like to be able to leave him with someone else for longer than 2 hrs at some point. He took a bottle fine from 1-2 months, now is 4 months and hasn't taken one since 2 months. He just screams when I try to give it to him. help!!

Try having someone else give the bottle and step out of the room. Also have that person try holding him in either the cradle or cross-body nursing hold. This was the only way my LO would even contemplate a bottle. Now that she is almost 6 months she has a sippy cup that she loves and will take from anyone. It has given me a lot more freedom and peace of mind.

I have read at 4 months you can try with a sippy. A lot of breastfed babies just don't like bottles. I would go ahead and offer a sippy or a cup or a straw cup.

I plan to try and get my LO drinking from a sippy or cup or straw cup around 4-5 months adjusted, simply because I don't like bottles and he doesn't really like them either. He reverse cycles and only takes 4-6 ounces while I am at work (10 hours). That and the teats say to replace them after 3 months use, and I don't want to buy more. They are the Medela calma teats and they are quite expensive.
