so i've been reading the side of the formula tin and it says at 6 months to move to a trainer cup, but i'm a bit clueless!

we've got a TTone, that came with the steriliser, but i'm worried cos it wont be BPA free. plus it looks bloody hard to get liquid out!

we've got a sippy cup aswell, but she's not too good with it, especially cos she cant get to grips with the tipping it up to get milk - she's the same with her bottle, she'll pick itup, put it inher mouth, but cant get her head round the tipping bit, so she's sucking up air!!

anyone know the best kind of sippy cup to get and should i leave it til she's learnt to tip it up??

i didnt know u were supposed to change to a trainer cup shows how much i read LOL

we gave Annabelle a juice cup and i have spend a fortune trying to find one she will drink out of, she is finally drinking out of a nuby one which luckily i bought 2 of, im hoping she will grow out of being so fussy

my lo never had bottles ,but he started drinking from a sippy cup at 8 months, do it whenever you feel you lo is ready. if bottles are good for you still , carry on.

it's important that she starts to drink something from a sippy cup, but I wouldn't say at 6 months you should necessarily worry about getting her to drink formula from it. Alasdair has never had formula from a sippy cup and only has 1 bottle a day now (and about 3/4 full beakers of water). So what's the point in replacing feeds of formula when your baby will eventually cut them out anyway? I found that Alasdair got very very upset when I tried to give him formula from a beaker. I don't even think there is too much of an issue with a baby having a bottle until 18 months or so as long as they aren't taking it to bed with them. That my opinion tho...if Alasdair takes to cows milk I probably won't ever put it in a bottle and just give him that straight from his cup.

I think it would be easier to get her drinking water (or juice of you prefer) from a beaker then move on to milk when she is confident with that.

My baby now happily drinks from a tommy tippee cup (the £1 one with the hard spout that flips up and down for travelling) and also a NUK one (£5) which is also a hard free flowing spout and a plastic half-pint glass. He is 9 1/2 months now.

I've got a nuby one that he likes to hold - he hasn't quite mastered the tipping part yet but at least he holds it properly and puts it in his mouth. I've also just got a doidy cup which is supposed to encourage them to do the tilting part - though I might give it to him to practice with in the bath - cuts down on the inevitable flood!! I'm just going to keep giving it to him and letting him play with it until he figures it out - he will happily drink from it if I tip it for him.

we had a bit of a brekthru with the sippy cup today, she drank from it when she was lying don, not ideal, but she got the hang of where the water came from! i think im gona stick to that for water and a bottle for milk xx

well done katie :happydance: maddi still has bottles for formula, will probably continue to do so until she stops having milk, we offer her juice and water in her sippy cup/beaker, took us about 15 different types of beakers to find one she likes :dohh:

I also read this and worried! I've been trying Elliot with various cups etc but we're sticking with water/juice at the mo as he gets so frustrated when he wants his milk fast! We'll keep trying.

keely.
