So I'm not pregnant, and I don't even know if we'll go for a third, but we had a discussion today and came to realise there are no boys names that we really like! And I've noticed a pattern with people who have one of each and go on to have a third, they nearly always have the same gender as their first! I'm convinced we'd have another boy.

We have a son, Seth, and a daughter, Elsie. If we had another girl there are so many names we like - Martha, Margot, Ivy, Iris, Edie (Edith), Florence, Audrey, Cora, Thora etc. I think this shows the sort of style we like, old people names that also sound quite modern now. There are no boy names we can think of in this sort of style that jump out at us. We quite like Stanley and Barney, but they're ruled out for various reasons. There are obvious older names like Archie, Fred etc but they're too common for our tastes.

Throw some boy names at me!

EDIT: a week after writing this we found out I was pregnant!!! So I may be needing these boy names after all!

I'm just gonna throw out random names :)

Trevor
Joel
Jack
Andrew
Matthew
Gabriel
Jacob
Grant
Aaron
Miles
Samuel
Tristan
Garrett
Nathaniel
Elliot
Mason
Michael
Liam
Griffin
Jasper
Xavier

Hope these help :) Good luck!

They're all perfectly fine names, but none of them are for me. Thanks though!

You have the same taste as me, we liked Elsie but its very popular where we are and we had boys. Ideas we had were:

Percy
Stanley
Barney
Albie
Arthur
Albert
Laurie
Henry
Vinnie
Jasper

We prob have similar taste as I love the name Seth but couldn't use it as it doesn't go with my surname, and my girls name if I ever have one is either Ivy/Lily/Evelyn/Grace/Nora with Martha as a middle name. We have a Frederick/Freddie though which you said is too popular for you.

My list for if I ever have another boy is

Henry
Arthur
Noah
Albert
George
Jacob
Lucas
Louis

Freddie was on our original boys name list before we had Seth, but I know quite a few now and our surname begins with F too so it just sounds a bit much. I quite like Frank/Franklyn but it's out for the same reason. Henry could be a possibility, but I'm not sure if I think that's a bit too popular too? I only know of one personally though. The more I say Albert the more I like that one as well. I like Arthur but DH really dislikes it for some reason.

I love Martha so much! Girls are so much easier to name.

Theodore
Leonard
Franklin (I have one of these 😘)
Herbert/Herbie
Abel

Silas
Barnaby
Gregory
Lawrence
Patrick
Sebastian
Walter
Bertram
Eric

I named my son Archer as opposed to Archie. Much less common. I also like:
Chandler
Everest
Benson
Common but cute names:
Angelo
Elijah
Aiden
Austin

Amos
Evan
Bobby
Bertie
Eric
Herbie
Eddie
Stanley

Albie
Dennis
Eric
Elye
Laurie/Laurence
Spencer
Maxwell
Barnaby
Benson
Timothy
Dominic
Nicholas
Theodore/Theo
Ted
Frankie
Fergus
Jasper

So we found out last week that I'm pregnant, complete and utter shock! My 2.5 year old DS says he wants a brother called Archie (he doesn't actually know we're having a baby, it his answer when asked if he wants a brother or sister)

So despite me thinking Archie is too popular, it's growing on me because he likes it. I know of 3 Seth's age or younger though which is still off putting.
