what do u think of the name Magus for a lil boy?
(may-gus, NOT maggus)

my oh likes it as it originates from magic/sorcery which has a personal meaning to him

i didnt like it at first but now i'm warmimg to it... just after some other opinions

i like the pronounciation you're suggesting - the problem you might have is that everyone will pronounce it magus and he will always have to spell it. Having said that i have a name no one can pronounce that i always have to spell and i wouldnt change it for the world!!

Sorry but I don't like it much either. To be honest, the first thing I thought of when I read it was "maggot". Stupid association I know, but if I have it, some kid at school will definitely think of it at some point.
If you're not sure yourself, maybe you two can think of other names that are related to magic that aren't quite as out there?

Had you not mentioned it, I would have pronounced it wrong. Would you find it annoying having to correct people? I imagine it could get frustrating for LO at school. I remember at the start of every year in high school, for the first time in each class, one girl always had her name mispronounced. I felt very sorry for her.

That is exactly what I thought!!! I always try to think of the mean nicknames that other children would come up with when I think of names!!!

i am definitely liking the name, especially since its not overly used!

but yeah, maybe we would spell it Maygus or Maegus

certainly wouldnt want a LO associated with maggots!! lol
