Breast feeding vs. Bottle/Formula Feeding

the OP did ask for advantages and disadvantage to breast and bottle I see loads here for bottle but once someone comes in with breastfeeding help there's some kinda war brewing ?

i will definately be bottle feeding, i think its easier, less painful and i personally wouldnt wanna get me baps out in front of mil lol. also i want oh to help out and be as much involved as i am and i know my sisters will want to feed bubs whenever they're about too!

Definately not easier!

With fomula feeding, you have to sterilse and make up bottles as and when you need them. What a pain at 3am eh!

Least with booby with can whip it out and feed baby in bed ohh it's just so easy, no faffing with sterlising and making up bottles, it's perfect temperature, always available, so easy! I couldn't be bothered to formula feed, too much work :)

You can keep bottles in the sterliser to keep them sterilie.
You can also fill the bottles and put them in the fridge/on the side half filled with cooled boiled water.
You can top the bottles up, as you need them with boiling water from the kettle then add the milk.
Its really not that hard!
The new electric sterilisers take a matter of minutes but most people would have the bottles ready esp at night time. I have always done it this way with no problems.
As for going out, thats easy. You take a carton of ready milk. Failing that, take some powdered milk in a container with the number of scoops and use a fisher price flask to fill it up with boiling water. You can also heat the ready made carton up using the flask of boiling water. Its slightly more of a fuss than bf but really its NO big deal!

Course it's not, but not as easy as just whipping your boob out and having to do nothing :)

I type and breastfeed

I'm doing it now

Oh and also, once you learn the art of feeding on your side, you can pretty much go to sleep and feed your baby, then they can help themselves. I would HATE to have to get out of my warm bed to make a bottle up, horrible! Especially in winter!

Nothing wrong with bf
Nothing wrong with ff
Its personal choice.

To repeat...although its easy to whip your boobs out i agree, its not as easy as getting dad up and getting yourself some rest!

Nah couldnt even get up and make bottles, Oh is the same. Multitasking is also an art that comes properly to lol slings are great. If i ever figure the one i have out it would be.

but breastfeeding mums actually do get more sleep and rest. And dad has other things he can do and if you really want you can express a bottle and dad can feed that. And its called co sleeping. It makes breastfeeding at night easier.

and risk falling asleep with your baby?

Risk? It's love.ly falling asleep with your baby. AND so easy for breastfeeding. Leni helps himself when he wants, it's great

Leni and I co-sleep and have done from day 1. It's fab. Seems to alien to me to put him alone in his cot.

Co-sleeping is fab for establishing a milk supply. My midwife and my antenatal classess really encouraged it, as does my health visitor.

Co-sleeping when done safely and responsibly is wonderful. In countries such as Japan, where co-sleeping is normal the SIDS rate is so low they don't even know what it is.

It works for us, it's great :)

Yeah this is true, and now there seems to be nasty undertones to everyones posts- can we just go back to the original post? Lets play nice ;)

Im just thinking of cot death. I am aware that most women are aware of having their baby's sleep next to them but they do actually advise against it. x

co sleeping is actually safer than cot sleeping if done right. Health visitors even recommend it here. I dont see a problem in it is both parents feel safe doing it. We do and its worked for us for 21 months.

I agree, that's when you can express and give Daddy a bottle.

However, i like to attend to my baby's needs myself especially as my OH works. Not really fair to ask him to get up in the middle of the night when it's easier for me to feed Leni :)

whos they? and it is called COT for a reason not co sleeping death.NHS have leaflets they give to parents. It is advised against of you smoke, drink or take heavy meds.

Anway, i dont have any problem with people who want to breastfeed. I dont have any issue with people who want to formula feed. It is totally up to the individual. Personally i like formula feeding but have breast fed also. No need for any bad feeling between anyone. x

Babies die in cots too.

Really, who's that? All health professionals i know advise co-sleeping. Usually only if you are breastfeeding of course.

My son was 6 weeks premature, and the neonatal nurses in SCBU advised me to co-sleep. I was shown how to do it safely and correctly.

Love it :)
