I've hit the 6 month breastfeeding mark with my third born and am now starting to feed her formula in the daytime for numerous reasons (supply is not one of them!!). However I am keen to still breastfeed her at night when she needs it (which at the mo is at about 2am and 5am) because a) it's good for her to still have some breastmilk, b) it's a lot simpler than having to go and make a bottle etc c) I enjoy the closeness with her. I just wanted to know if anyone else just breastfeeds at night and also if I do this will my milk just dry up because I'm not feeding in the day? I hope I can carry on a bit because I can't bear the thought of giving it up completely!!!!

At around 6 months your supply changes and becomes a more on demand thing. If you are sticking to a regular feeding schedule, then you should be ok. I know that MervMum should be able to answer better than I.

I did this with my LO for a few month (bad advice from HV). It won't dry up but it will decrease alot. I have gone back to full time breastfeeding without any major problems

As a rule, I only feed once in the morning and once at night now.

The other afternoon she was really upset with teething and the only thing that would sooth her was 'mimi'. She comfort fed for 10 mins and still gave a huge burp after! There is certainly plenty there. :)

Samantha is right. After a certain point they just produce on demand so you should be totally fine.
