I've received advice from mummy friends who wished they had read more about breastfeeding (and baby care in general) before baby was born, but because most of them DIDN'T read a book, they have nothing to recommend. I've searched through this forum and found one recommended book by a couple women here:

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by the Le Leche League

Are there any other good ones? I'm not looking for anything too hardcore (breastfeed till age three, no bottles allowed ect) as I hope to BF to 1 yr, but probably not longer and as soon as milk production is established I want to express milk to allow DH and other family members help with feeding. However I am a first time mummy-to-be, so I might end up changing things as I have no experience, but I want to be as educated and determined as I can.

While I've got the attention of you BFing experts, can I ask one more question? I think I've decided on the medela Swing breast pump. Does that sound like a good choice?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I can't wait to join you ladies here!

The Womanly Art is fantastic. I love that book.

Another concise and easy to read referrence type book is this:

Bestfeeding - How to Breastfeed Your Baby

I used this in my training and I really like it too.

Edit - I also have a Swing and I love that too. Excellent little pump and served me very well :)

I'll recommend The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding wholeheartedly.. I love that book.

Thanks. That gives me a couple books to pick up.

I can reccommend the swing to, i wouldn't be without it !

I can't reccommend any books as such as I only read one and that was by the NCT. I didn't like the way it was written at all. I thought the way it was written was very pushy, I actually got quite cross from reading it !

I don't know anything about books, but will keep an eye on the thread as I'm interested too - I've found t'internet and google invaluable though (especially these forums :D)

The swing I can answer for though - With my first I used a manual pump (I think it was advent) and pumping was such a chore. I've got a swing this time round, used it as a one off a few days ago though I'm waiting till 6 weeks to start pumping properly - it's unbelievable the difference in them! Well worth the money imo.
