hello :)

i'm getting married in april this year.

we're both money saving freaks, and save any penny we can.
we wanted a simple wedding,
and so far we've nearly got everything, including venues, photographer, outfts, etc for under 1k

but we only spent £50 on the rings.
it was an argos jobby.
at the time, i was fine with it, cos we dont do fancy, but the more i look at them the more i wish i had spent more.
they are just plain gold slim wedding bands.

i spoke to tom and he doesn't want to pay anymore,
and when we picked the rings it was sweet cos they had one of each ring left and they were strangely our exact sizes!

does it really matter is the rings didn't cost alot?
and what do people think about replacing them when we have spare money to splash out? tom doesn't like this idea, as he thinks the ring we give each other on the day should stay for life..

just curious on peoples thoughts?
:) x

We are only haviong cheap rings - I'm and engineer and DF is a joiner so both get our hands bashed alot! He picked his out and it is £6.99 :D

We hadn't planned to get new rings but i def wouldn't say a def no :)

We're also getting cheap rings - from Argos to match my argos engagement ring =] It don't matter to me where its from or what price it is tbh!

I don't know about replacing them, maybe if we renewed our vowels or something but I just want the one

I haven't been able to find a wedding ring that fits nicely with my engagement ring so I have gone for a 9ct white gold slim band from Argos, it is costing £12.99.

If we have the money in the future then I may upgrade and get a ring made to fit my engagement ring.

I don't think it matters how much you spend on rings, my OH wants a ring that is costing about £15 because his hands get bashed at work all the time.

xXx

I dont know where we are getting ours but they wont be expensive. It doesnt matter how much the rings cost to me...its what they represent :D

aw thats made me feel better, thanks girls :)
i just kind of got the idea in my head that people spend alot on rings.

but i am happy and will be keeping the ones we have :)
thanks again. xx

My friend spent more on their rings than my entire wedding!!!

Glad your sticking with the ones you have. You obv picked those for a reason and im sure they will look lovely :D

It shouldn't matter on the cost. Only the fact that you and he like it.

Hey lovely, we went into a jewellers in Brighton when we were down there last sorting some wedding things and the 2 wedding rings we want were more than £800. We had no intention of buying them from the minute we went in as the people in the shop were too pushy but we did come out knowing what we did and didn't want.

So, from there, we started looking ourselves and have managed to get the exact same ring specifications for £300 for both from the internet. And I mean exactly the same, I have a simple polished Platinum band in 4mm D shape and my Boyo has a 7mm brushed flat court shaped band in 18ct white gold.

It is a huge saving and you really can not tell the difference so no, it isn't about money at all, it is about you loving the rings as they are a huge symbol of your marriage and love :cloud9:

Hunny, my OH could have got me a haribo ring for all I care, it isn't about the jewerly to me (although its a nice sparkly bonus) its about the man you are marrying and the commitment. My mums wedding ring was £50 from a shopping channel, and everyone says how beautiful it is (it looks very sparkly and expensive but is all cubic zurconia (sp?).

I plan to get a couple of simple wedding bands that I have seen that are nice and cheap, the fact that the rings you chose were the only ones there and in your perfect size, should say something. I'm a great believer in fate and things meant to be.

If all else fails, just save up yourself and buy another shiny one, if its out your own pocket I'm sure your OH wont mind! Men don't like being poor
