Oh someone PLEASE help me. She's figured out that if she squishes Tiggers right hand he will bounce around and sing. ARGHH. I thought it was an accident at first, but she's done it 5 times in a row now and things its UBER funny. These toys are gonna torment me to death haha.

I think I might have to hide him

ha chloe had one of these as a baby - highly annoying when they figure out how to activate it. mean mummy that i am took out the batteries!

so is everyone elses baby suffering with the heat? sam usually sleeps 8pm till 7.30am but the last couple of nights he's been up till 10-11pm and been unsettled all night.

I was furious on saturday night, we put sam down in his cotbed and we heard him whinging from downstairs so OH ran up to stick his dummy back in, but sam was on his front, just as he went to grab him and flip him over the base of the cot snapped in half. Absolutely scared the shit out of sam and OH. So we had to get the travel cot out which he wont sleep in. Yesterday OH fixed the cot and reinforced it and we put him back in it, it broke cos there is a knot in the wood where all the pressure sits. Im waiting on someone from the place i bought it to ring me back. Thank god he wasnt hurt!!!

Then yesterday morning he fell through his walker!! I just dont know what to put him in now, too big for everything except his highchair!

Colsy ~ Question .. have you got, or are you due on your period yet? That can cause BF strikes cause the hormones change the taste of the milk.
Glad he's feeding again! I think its about time you put some pics up of him! ;)

Not a clue. Haven't had a period since the one before my BFP! And I was such a 28-days-a-month lass previously  Also, though, I don't think it can be that, because he did drink some of the milk out of a bottle, and I expressed it there and then for him, so surely it would taste the same as if it was coming direct from me?

I just dont know what to put him in now, too big for everything except his highchair!

I soooo know what you mean. It's like there is a whole part of the market for kids' chairs missing. You have the bouncy chair and the high chair/little person's chair, but what comes in between? Some people would say the Bumbo, but that's fine if your baby likes the Bumbo :dohh: We have four 'stay there please' places:

(1) a door bouncer (only in our house it's a kitchen-ceiling beam bouncer, as our 300-year-old doorways are all zillions of feet thick)

(2) a Leapfrog Learn and Groove (yes, I gave in and bought one, much to the disgust of the part of my brain reminding me how much I hate plastic toys ... but it was second hand on eBay, and the batteries are rechargeable)

(3) a babygym with an inflatable surrounding ring, so he can sit upright but without falling over

(4) and, best of all the plastic laundry basket, ideally (in Monty's opinion) full of wet laundry straight out of the washing machine :haha:

Seems to be a lot of posts in the Bumpkin thread at the mo about what our little ones "should" be doing (or not doing). And I suspect I'm one of the most infamous cases for asking these questions! However, even though I make comparisons all the time, I should stress that I do think it's easy sometimes to worry that baby 1 isn't doing x, even though baby 2 is doing it, but I think we only need to look at a few babies to see that although baby 1 may not be doing x, he/she is doing y instead, but baby 2 isn't doing it.

Eh? Well that was my convoluted way of saying that they're all different, and some will do some things first and others will do other things first. And some are generally super-fast learners, and others are slower learners.

Having got that out my system, can I ask whether any Bumpkin babies are doing two particular things: (1) a fairly unpleasant nasal grunting sort of noise, a bit like a cross between a bowel strain, an impression of a horse neighing, and a growl  And (2) whilst sitting up, trying to bounce up and down on his bum whilst making a sort of monkey 'hoo-hoo-hoo' noise :wacko:

Colsy ~ Yea, Autumn did the bouncing on the butt thing for ages before she started to crawl. Its how she started to get around lol.

I think what we also have to remember that there's almost a full 4 weeks between some of the Bumpkins and in terms of baby mile stones that's a long time and there are bound to be a few differences!.

Morning Girls!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. The saga of the enormous pool continues- we finally picked a good spot on the lawn for it and started to fill it on Saturday, only to realize that our "reasonably level" spot was nowhere near close enough to level for it to fill properly. Grrrr- it's an Easy Set pop up pool (sloping soft sides that use gravity to keep it upright) but the design means that the ground has to be perfectly level or the sides collapse- hubby is at the garden centre buying soil/sand to level the new location for the pool  We should have just bought a dollar store pool instead :dohh: I'll post piccies of Emma in it if we ever get the damn thing set up! Yesterday we went to Kingston- had a nice time just hanging in a park by the lake and then had a nice dinner. Emma was awesome for the car ride there, and started off okay on the way home, but she woke up about 45 mins away from home and started to scream. In the end, I had to move to the backseat of the car and the only thing that calmed her was the song "The Wheels on the Bus"- I sang it for 30 min straight and hope to never have to sing it again, lol! Hubby is home today- it's a holiday weekend. It's our wedding anniversary so I've got some champagne chilling in the fridge for later- yum :) I was all nostalgic this morning, looking at our wedding photos- only 2 years ago, but seems like ages ago now! Anyway, thought I'd share one

https://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy65/kayjengirl/wedding/KatieDarrinWedding-0243.jpg

Aimee- cute piccies of Earl- looks like he enjoyed spending time outside :) Hope you enjoyed the seaside- sounds like you guys have been enjoying hot weather too so that sounds like it would be a nice way to spend the day. Emma loves playing with the remote too- we should market a chewable version for babies :haha:

Flora- that ball pit/pool sounds awesome! Sounds like you guys have been really busy with fixing up the house. Hope you enjoyed the BBQ.

Kte- Glad to hear your plans worked out in the end :hugs: I always worry about restaurants not having highchairs too.

Chaos- That's a cute video of Autumn! How's Miss Autumn doing today? Haha- tigger :) The songs that Emma's exersaucer plays drive me crazy too. The things we put up with for a moment's peace though, lol :)

MrsO29- I wouldn't worry too much- like the others said, it's easy to get worked up about babies not doing the same stuff yet, but really, they are all different. I'm sure he'll start sitting/crawling/eating in his own time :hugs:

Colsy- Glad to hear the BF strike is over and didn't really last very long. I'd have been really worried too. Emma does the monkey but uses more of a "rah rah rah" sound and used to do the grunting whenever she was unhappy with something  It's been a few weeks since she did the grunting so hopefully she's moved on- kinda embarassing when she did it in public

Jo- Emma is fussier with the heat too and her sleeping is a little messed up too. I'd have been furious about the cotbed too! That's lucky that Sam wasn't hurt.

Colsy sam never liked his bumbo, i can count on one hand the amount of times he's been in it so now im sending it off to my friend who's baby is due in a couple of weeks. Im just glad i didnt buy it brand new. I cant put him in his big ring cos he pushes his feet against the side and flips himself backwards!

Sam also makes that grunting noise usually when he's not getting his own way lol

On the cotbed front im waiting on them calling me back, well they've got an hour till they close and if they dont call me back today then they're gonna have one p*ssed of mum on the phone tomorrow!! He's got a little cut on his cheek that i think he did to himself so i might tell them it was from the cot. Is that bad??

Kaites: Beautiful wedding picture :flower: Good job your not here in the UK as its going to rain soon so by the time your pool is up there would be no point :haha:

jo: Where did you get the cot from? That's just horrendous!

I have just popped Chloe in the bath this morning and again at night to help her cool down and have a little splash about. The weather is making her fussy too at night, I had the window open and the fan on too.

I turned my back for what felt like a nano second today, Chloe was onher back on some cusions, next min I look she on her front and turned 90 degrees ! NEED TO FIND MY MINI CAMERA!!!

Argh- I give up!!!! So hubby bought the soil and we thought we had things leveled/shored up so that the sides of the pool would rise properly when filling but still no luck. We go 6" of water in before the walls twisted and poured water out again. Our water bill is gonna be huge with all these failed attempts :( I'm going to buy a dollar store pool  Emma might be the only one who fits in it, but at least she'll be cool!

Random Q time: (bit of background first though) Our next door neighbours are lovely people- given me countless boosts when I've left the lights on the car, bought Emma a gift when she was born, gave us their slide for Emma for the backyard, never hear a peep from them (you get the picture) and they have 2 daughters, 14 and 16. Well, this weekend the parents went away and the 16 yr old was "entertaining" a boyfriend while Mum and Dad were out of town. Somehow I doubt the parents know anything (I would never say anything either) but it really bothers me. I mean, I did this kind of stuff too, but the parents are super sweet and now I've turned all "Mum"ish and I think "I hope Emma doesn't do that" (but if I did it, she might too). Anyway, just wondering (and rabbling, lol) if anyone else has those moments when they think ahead ~13 yrs and think "oh crap- I hope she/he doesn't do what I did at that age!"

Hi Ladies.

Well I have about had it. My life is total up s*&t creek without a paddle. Im so skint its untrue, my relationship is still an almighty flop one month on and to top it all off today I had a car accident. I am screwed. Chloe was in nursery thankfully. I have had to take the day off work, prob is I am already 2 days down on flexi time, have no holidays or anything so I can't really have this time off. I'm at breaking point now.

Massive :hugs: to you. i dunno what to say x

Oh Katie :( :hugs:

I'm glad to read you're ok after the accident. As for him .. you know what I think. You and lil miss can do SO much better for your self. You're worth so much more than the bullshit he's giving you. He's acting like a dog in heat. He does not deserve you or your daughter.

Stay strong hunny and know you got us here for you, don't let the bast*** wear you down. :hugs:

Kte, :hugs: to you and Chloe. I am guessing (and very much hoping) that the accident was minor otherwise you wouldn't be talking on here - even so, I hope that you're fine and I am sooo pleased to hear that Chloe wasn't in the car with you.

Re financial stuff, don't forget that if you're "officially" single (I don't know your full story, so not sure whether you are or aren't single) you're probably entitled to a few more tax credits and other benefits. Maybe ring Citizen's Advice and ask what they reckon you could claim to help out on that front.

On other fronts, I hope things start looking up for you and Chloe soon. Have another :hugs: from me.

And Chaos, you were sooo right, my dear. It's come to something when us Bumpkins can predict each other's periods! Yup, it arrived last night, so your explanation re Monty's nursing strike was spot on. It feels very weird indeed having my first period since January 2009. Brought back a few memories of various things - postnatal bleeding obviously, but also my MC in October 2008 and also the whole TTC thing, where each month you wonder whether this is the one ...

We're having something like a trial day for next week's lone mum session. OH is working a long day today, and because he needed to leave at 5am he slept in the spare room last night because I didn't want him driving after having a bad night. He won't be back until way after Monty's gone to bed tonight, so really it's like a mini version of next week. And you know what (yawn ... I bet you're all saying 'we KNEW this') ... Monty's been an absolute star, napped in his new cotbed (albeit for shorter than usual naps), and last night he woke just once at 4am and then slept through till 7am! Oh my, it felt like heaven.

Gotta go, he's just waking up now I've written that!

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

I'm glad to hear you're okay and Chloe wasn't in the car :hugs: We're always here if you need to talk/vent hun. :hugs:

Kte :hugs: I'm so sorry to hear how bad things are right now. Defo apply for/update tax credits. Even if it's only a lousy £20 a month, it's better than nothing. And if Nij aint living in your house or contributing to the bills, you can apply for housing benefit too to help pay things like council tax & stuff. It may well be worth going to CAB for some advice. So you get childcare vouchers from your work, coz that could cut some of Chloebear's nursury fees as you dont get as much tax taken off your income... Nij is a prick for not treating you & Chloe better. Having seen my sister bring her 2 boys up alone after 2 wanker ex's, i know how difficult & emotionally draining it is & also how you will do anything for your child but neglect yourself in the process, so please, please look after yourself too in all this. I hope you're ok after the accident. What actually happened???

Colsy, darn those periods. I still havent had one, but I've noticed my monthly skin breakouts have returned, so i'm guessing AF wont be too far behind now. Fun Fun. Harry used to bounce & grunt. Now he's all about the mamama, dadada, nanana, gagagaga and butt shuffling/commando crawling across the rug. The rug is now 'his' ground & he stays in that area for some reason! I hope this is the end of Monty's nursing strike. I will totally freak out if Harry does that!

Jo, how'd the walker break? Harry has the same one that my sis gave him, so now I'm worrying his will break too. I hope you have some luck with getting a replacement cotbed from those idiots. I would use the cut on his face to my advantage, lol, and make a sob story up too to guarentee they take it seriously & get soemthing sorted asap.

MrsO, every baby is different. One of my nephews did everythng really quickly & was full on walking & running by 9mths 2 weeks old. His brother however didn't roll over till end of 7mths, didn't crawl until 10mths & walked at 13mths, but is very good speech wise & great with his food/feeding skills & very independant in all other ways. Rory will get going as & when he's ready I'm sure. x

Kaites, sorry to here the pool isnt going as planned. Lovely wedding photo though :)

anyways, better go. OH is away for the next few days working in the Channel Islands, so it's just me & Harry & some decorating to get done. harry is currently fast asleep on the rung, surrounded by toys. I think he has played himself out, lol.

Thanks all :hugs:

Just a quick reply to Flora's question, ill be back for a proper read later on, got my Mum and Dad coming over later too for a bit of support too.

I was driving down a hill from dropping off Chloe and on my way to work. The car in front slowed down and started to turn left so I put on my brakes but the car just kept on going. Im not sure but I think its because the road is under some trees and it was a damp atmos so I am suspecting bad tracktion. Still it goes down as my fault as I hit them. My car has a few scratches but seems otherwise okay. I couldn't see any damage to theirs but assume scrateches and dent. Hit theirs on the rear passengerside, I was going the limit too. Apparently the driver banged his head according to his wife (my Mum thinks insurance jobby). I dunno, so long as no one is seriously hurt, crappy circumstances but I just don't want that on my concience either. Other than that, just people being shaken.

awww, that's awful... :hugs: I hope it was just atmosphere & that your brakes aren't dodgy Kte. But glad you're ok even if it's NOT ideal, bless ya.
