I had a snowball at Christmas and a small babycham when I had 3 people there who could look after Noah (I dont drive so thats no issue for me) I do like the odd drink but I must say they are so rare.

Girls, if you LOVE icecream and you kids love icecream .. and you want to eat loads of it but want to still be healthy, you HAVE to try this!!

https://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn...amy-ice-cream-with-just-one-ingredient-093414

I just made a batch and the kid and husband are chowing down on it!! It tastes JUST like icecream and you can eat as much as you like! I think I'm gonna experiment with a few batches .. gonna try vanilla in one, peanut butter in one and Baileys in one! ;)

hey everyone i just skimmed over the posts cos im sooo tired, been working on my biology module since 9am and just finished now before i go bed.

Colsy i think if your OH job is just for the 8 days and gets you extra money id say go for it, it is hard being on your own 24hrs a day with a baby (I was on my own with chloe from 8 months till 8 years!) but you'll get through it and like the other girls said maybe arrange a nice night for you and oh once he's finished.
My oh is away all this week in wales doing some private jobs (he's a bricky) and yes i have thought to myself OMG i just want half hour to myself, especially when trying to study and look after sam and chloe when she's home from school, but the weeks nearly over and we're all still alive lol

Chaos them pics of Autumn are great, sam has been chasing one of the cats round all day, tiger was asking for it though lol he was lying just out of sams reach flicking his tail around so sam went for it. the two girly cats steer well clear of him though. i would imagine if sam went somewhere with animals like in your pics he'd probably try and grab them and attempt to put them in his mouth lol

I tried the recipe and it worked really well (and finally got some bananas I was saving for banana muffins out of my freezer). DH didn't like it (said the bananas were too ripe  silly man) but Emma wolfed it down once she got over the initial shock of it being so cold. I mixed cocoa powder in mine for yummy chocolate banana ice cream- cut the sweetness a bit too  I think the blender must have whipped a lot of air into it since Emma let out a giant belch when she was finished :dohh:

Oh and the AC is definitely being turned on next week- I checked the long range forecast and it's going above 30C for most of the week. Wednesday is supposed to be 33C with the humidity making it feel like 37C  I'll be loading the freezer with bananas too :haha:

Morning all,

Banana's are on the shopping list for this week so I am going be trying that receipe!

Well so much for catching up on sleep, well I did, and was nice and cosy in bed but I still didn't wake up until 6.45 and I am supposed to set off at 7.15. I still had Chloe's bottles to make up and wash my hair and I normally have to get up at 5.30 hair wash days as I need to get it dry too. So we were both a little late again today! Maybe I will get it right tomorrow, it will have only taken me all week to get it right! :haha:

Gearing up to do a carboot on Sunday with Chloe, not sure how it will work out but going to try at least. Kind of excited!

Hi girls. Havn't really had time to catch up properly as James is whinging in his cot and refusing to nap lol. I am on nights tonight and tomorrow so that will be fun. Got to try to squeeze in a nap this avo. Just thought I would let you know James is finally crawling. Learned to commando crawl about 5 days ago and today he has actually done a proper crawl for a second lol. Still prefers commando though. He is lethal now though cos as soon as you put him down hes off!

How are things with the OH working issue? :flower:

WELL ... we have reached a compromise, which is pretty good, considering how determined we were both acting, LOL. So, my mum comes up for the first four nights* (but see footnote below) and I then do the second four nights on my own. If those four nights go totally fine (as I know you all think they will), then OH will probably do similar shutdown work in Aug/Sept. On the other hand, if they're a complete disaster, then he won't do the Aug/Sept shutdown. (Likewise, if he does do the Aug/Sept one, then we'll see how that goes, and that will determine whether he does the shutdown after that, etc. etc.)

I am happy with this. It means Monty gets to spend a few days with his grandma, it means I get to practise being a home-alone mum but for just a few days, and it means OH gets to earn some nice cash and catch up with some of his old buddies.

*Footnote: This sounds fab, but actually my mum tends to do my head in after five minutes! She is one of those people who spends all their time worrying about what other people are doing instead of trying to sort out her own problems. Therefore her own life is in a bit of a state and she tries to live through me instead - does that make sense?! (I actually have a couple of friends that do similar things. Anybody know what I mean?)

Colsy: :happydance: sounds good! Albeit the mother doing your head in part!

LK: Hope the night shifts go easy on you and well done to James even though he is your new excercise regime  :flower:

Colsy - Yet another thing we have in common.....head-doing-in mothers! I love mine but I am having trouble coping with her at the moment (long story which I'm sure you mostly know anyway lol) so I can only marvel at you patience at having your Mum over for 4 days. Jeez, I was meant to call my Mum on Monday and I have successfully forgotten (accidentally I promise) to call her. It's now Thursday so it's been 2 days - and she's sent me a message on Facebook asking me if I'm ok becuase she's tried calling and hasn't got an answer (phone is on silent as the phone just wont bloody well stop ringing at the moment and I haven't got the patience to answer every call - lazy I know. I'll call her tonight and do my daughterly duty lol.

LK - Blimey James is doing well... I am dreading it when Earl finally susses it out. We're getting close to commando crawling - tummy shuffling kind of thing which means we can travel about 6 inches every 10 mins or so lol. It's a pace that I can handle but the Dog is getting a bit antsy - he can feel that very soon no-where will be safe and keeps shooting Earl shifty looks as if to say 'You stay away you' lol :haha:

Right...off to make the phone calls. Have a nice evening ladies xx :flower:

I think Noah is close to the crawl too, he's tried digging his feet in the floor with bum in the air, then he does a weird humping motion, but he has discovered he can move by just rolling over :haha: so today he crossed the room rolling over and over.

My mother can do my head in but I usually tell her when she is, i'm going to be stay with her from Sunday so i'm sure by Tuesday i'll of got annoyed at something but i'm sure i'll cope the week.

Hope everyone is having a good day! Emma and I trekked downtown by bus to get her passport application submitted (finally!) and then had a picnic at the Tulip Festival. Well, I should say I had a picnic- I offered Emma a sandwich but she tossed it in the grass and then proceeded to try to wiggle off the mat and grab fistfuls of grass and weeds :dohh: She's exhausted but so overtired that our nap attempts haven't gone well (I suppose she did cat nap a bit in the carrier). I hope she has a nice long sleep tonight though since the past two nights have been a bit rough.

Emma does a bit of a weird bicycling motion with her legs, lifting her knees off the ground but keeping her feet planted on the ground, when on her tummy, alternating with arm waving- if she's just learn to coordinate the two, she might actually get somewhere, lol :) She's almost got the commando crawl down- she moves, just super slow since all the other wiggling is actually slowing her down :haha: I'm in no rush for her to be mobile though- I like that I can put her on the floor and not worry about her getting into stuff

Kte- good luck with the carboot on Sunday!

LK- way to go James on the crawling! :happydance:

Colsy- glad to hear you guys reached a good compromise

Aimee- our cat shoots Emma those weary looks too, lol :) Hope your phone calls went okay

Maffie- enjoy your visit with your Mum

Anyone else have special plans for the weekend? We're contemplating a mini-road trip to Kingston on Sunday and spend sometime on Lake Ontario. It's a long weekend here and our wedding anniversary on Monday. Nothing romantic planned as of yet though- it's just nice to have the day off together.

:coolio: SUNSHINE! :coolio:

Morning all,

Hope everyone is having a nice day :flower:

Well Chloe was extra tired yesterday, she only made it until 6.30 before she was ready for bed! I am so proud of her as I take her up to the travel cot and she self settles in there now so we are free of the moses basket! I had to take her out of her sleeping bag last night as the room was far too warm. For the past few weeks I have had a blanket and a duvet and sometimes a sleeping bag on me, but then again I am a wuss! The house is at a constant 21 degrees apparently but I don't feel it sometimes. Anywhoo, she didn't really wake up at all, I dream fed her at 10.30 then the usual 1.30 then gave her a little at 5am as she seemed a bit dehydrated. She woke up at about half six then which is normal (yep we made it on time today too! :haha:)

I got her professional photo's back, the ones that they did at nursery. They are absolutely gorgeous but OMG the prices! The free one they mentioned you don't get unless you spend £30 - mind you that won't be hard! :dohh:

Off for a walk out of the office for a :coffee: in a mo! Want to be outside!

Morning all, im with you on feelin cold Kte, im often bundled up ina blanket while everyone else is roasting.

Trying to get some house work and washing done before I go away but not overly motivated to be honest. The sun is shining but have to stay in for some deliveries.

Noah is doing really well at night and only thing which is botherin him is the light through the curtains so need to get some blackout blinds up.

A bit of a tmi moment but Noah had really dark green poo this morning just wondering if anyones baby has had the same or what might be causing it.

So, we have a biting breastfeeding baby  TMI but my nipples are still reeling from the 4am feed. Ho hum. If any of you have been through this, check out my post in the BF area at https://www.babyandbump.com/breastf...ooo-dont-want-give-up-bf-but.html#post5473160

Crawling ... well, until last night, I thought it would months away. However, all of a sudden, Monty seems to love lying on his front. And when he's there, the bum's straight up in the air, like a caterpillar on a twig, and he is almost commando crawling. The odd thing is that he cannot roll over at all. Well, he has rolled from his tummy to his back twice, ever, and that's it. I thought babies rolled before they crawled? So for now I am thankful that I can still leave him on the changing mat on the floor on his back, and he won't be able to roll over and then crawl away. Yet. ;-)

BLW ... fave foods are now cucumber, melon, PSB and asparagus. Has anybody tried baby with any spices hotter than cinnamon on cumin? Am thinking paprika, cayenne, etc. We eat this sort of thing all the time, so really I'd like to introduce spices asap, but I'm concerned he'll get the hot food in his eyes, as he does have a tendency to rub his eyes, even if he isn't tired.

Move to cotbed ... poss happening this evening. Will report back.

Sounds like Monty wants some grub. Time for me to head off. Hmmmm, I came upstairs to sort out a chapter quickly so I could return it to the client way ahead of time, but I've actually spent my whole time on BnB. :dohh:

Mornin' girls!

Well Autumns been awake since 2am with a 102.2 fever. She was burning hot when Dh brought her in the bedroom, so I kept her in the bed with me while he went and got some sleep in the other room. After giving her what is our version of calpol, and putting cold wash cloths on her all night its now down to 100.1, still a bit high, but better than 102.2.

I think its just her teeth as there are no other symptoms, and she was off her food yesterday cause she didn't like the bottle in her mouth and on her gums.

She's just taken 8oz tho and is now sitting on the floor screaming and shouting at Elmo, so I guess she feels a bit better! lol

Mama on the other hand is knackered!!!

Oh, I was putting teething gel on her top teeth/gums yesterday and the lil wench clamped down and drew blood! It really hurts!!!!

LK ~ I know what you mean about mobility = lethal .. my kid has a total obsession with my laptop cord, and now can get to it when ever she pleases!

Colsy ~ Glad you reached a compromise. The catapiller crawling you describe is how lil miss started out. Head/shoulders down on the carpet .. butt in the air pushing along! She can now make it about 3 proper crawling steps before she flops down on her belly lol.
Re biting. I have a lac con friend on a local forum I talk on and when ever she sees someone post about biting she recommends that when they bite, take them off the boob and lay them down, telling them no. Wait a few seconds, pick up re-latch and try again. It may take a few goes for them to get it but generally it works. (more so now as they are starting to understand words at this stage)

Kaites ~ oh Lake Ontario sounds fab. Nothing that good going on here. Saturday gonna go to a local carnival and Sunday having some new family pics taken depending on if she's better or not.

Kte ~ oh hurry up and scan one of the pics! ;)

Maffie ~ As your BF-ing, green poop means too much fore or hind milk I think (off the top of my head, I read about it months ago) Google 'breastfeed baby producing green poo' and it should bring up something.

Ok better give this baby girl her banana porridge!

Colsy: Hope the move to cot bed goes well. I will be attempting this after the weekend, maybe Tuesday as I will have sorted her room out a bit better after the car boot! Hope you find a solution to the biting problem, Chloe plays a game with me and my finger and yes her tooth is sharp so I can imagine its not very pleasent at all for you :flower: Weaning wise I haven't even got that far with spices, she is just very slowly taking to food but that is fine by me, she likes it but she has never had a mental 'give me more' moment yet lol

Has anyone got their voucher through for their second Bounty pack? You get the usual bumpf of leaflets and scratchcards that always produce a win, but there are some good freebies in it this time!

EDIT: Chaos: Lol okay I will do it now! Hope Autumn feels better now :flower:

Okay, well I chose five in the end to show you :haha:

I did wonder if it was too much fore milk as he's getting hot so snacking, ive given water today but he's not overly interested in that.

Cotbed ... tried for nap but not keen. Now sleeping back in his hammock. What have others tried to encourage transition to larger bed? (I can't put the hammock in the cotbed, like people do with moses baskets.) Just planning ahead really - it may be fine next time we try, but I'd like a back-up plan just in case.

Also, did you do it gradually, say just for one nap, then two naps, then every nap, and finally nights as well? Or did you do all in one go?

Any way we can make the cotbed feel a bit smaller? Not keen on stuffing towels etc in there, as they're not very wriggly-baby-friendly if he pulls them over himself.
