Happy 9 months to Harry too! I totally forgot too, lol :) Gosh time is flying by wayyyy too fast!

Maffie- that's so maddening when docs are too busy to answer questions. I hope things go better when you change hospitals- or better yet, the headaches just clear up :hugs:

Morning all,

Well Chloe is at nursery today so fingers crossed she is okay, she was a little bit grumpy after a while yesterday, got tired easily after a play. I warned the nursery staff anyway.

Flora: Belated happy 9 months for Harry yesterday! :D Sorry to hear about your plec - we lost ours the other month too :(

Maffie: Sorry to hear the hospital were useless and hope your transfer one will be much better :flower: Congrats on your new due date (so confusing!). Hope the head aches clear up soon too :flower:

So what are other Bumpkins doing sleep-wise? We seem to now have one good night, one bad night. I am not very good at this, because after a good night I get all excited and forget that there is likely to be a bad night soon. Likewise, when we have a bad night, I get all doom and gloom and think that we've reverted to the nightmare scenario of a few weeks ago.

We also seem to be having one happy day, one grumpy day at the moment. Yesterday Monty was full of the joys all day, apart from towards the end of the day, but then he tends to get miserable then anyway. The day before he was a right grump though, and then today he also seems to be grumpy. It can't be a coincidence that the grumpy days are also the days when he pretty much misses his morning nap - the other day it was half an hour, and today it was 20mins :growlmad: It should be about an hour and a half on a good day.

Hmmm, I am after some advice as well, if any of you can help ... for daytime naps, Monty had been falling asleep under his musical spinning cot mobile, but we've had to take that down now, as he was pretty much about to grab it and pull it on to himself. I have also got into the very bad habit of BF him in the nursing chair in his nursery before every nap, so of course he is now totally depending on suckling in order to get to sleep. So ... now we have no mobile so I have to cross my fingers that he will fall asleep on me before I pop in down for a nap. But of course at some point one day I will have to stop BF, so then he won't have a mobile or a boob, which doesn't sound too hopeful at the moment :nope: Anybody who says 'Oh, just pop him in his cot and see what happens' (e.g. my mother and our HV) doesn't have a baby who wants to climb out the cot, roll over, reverse-crawl or do anything else apart from sleep! So, any suggestions?

Colsy - not so sure but maybe keep him on the boob whilst you suppliment the mobile with another sleep que? Maybe some music or something? Then once he is used to that new que you can then wean him of the boob as a sleep aid perhaps?

Hmm, Kte, that sounds quite a good idea. I will try playing the music from the mobile (you can remove the music bit so can hear it, just without the spinning toys) while I BF and see what happens ... Got HV clinic in a bit. Last time I saw her was when she did a home visit during my week from hell, when Monty was waking eight times a night! Am hoping she tells me how happy and healthy I look this time, as I suspect that description couldn't have applied to me last time I saw her LOL.

Colsy I BF Noah before his morning nap, I feed then pop in cot awake pass him teddy and if he moans for more than 5 mins or so I get him back up usually though he just nods off. He needs that teddy though. If we are ouy he naps in car seat/pram etc as and when he wants. I wont let Noah cry in his cot but he does tend to nap on his tummy. He is happy to play in the cot with his toys so sometimes he just sits in there any plays until he nods off. (it has takens weeks to get to that point though) Still cant get him into cot for afternoon nap he falls asleep on the pillow i use to feed him and stays on the sofa with someone. Great excuse to have a sit down with a cuppa.

Well spoke to my new hospital as my new doctors were like well your midwife is on holiday :dohh: so anyways spoken to hospital and they want to scan me and get me into a consultant tomorrow  They said as they scanned me last week and my edd is different to what they said they are rescanning me so date might change AGAIN. I have a feeling im going to be drained of blood again.

headaches aren't clearing so midwife said might need to see if its my meds etc so hopefully they will know more tomorrow. They are strange headaches, causing numbness and weird sensations in my head, neck and arm.

Noah is teething but still a jolly one, he's doing well at night and it's me waking up rather than him. We normally now have 2 bad nights in 7 on average. On those bad nights I only get about 2 hours sleep though.

Kte I hope Chloe has a better day, it's horrid when they are unwell and grisly. Just want to take all the pain away yourself.

Arrrgh, you poor lass! I thought we had tough nights sometimes. 2 hours is hard going. :hugs: You know, it's bizarre. Loads of us on here still struggle with bad nights. And yet almost all the babies of this age I know in 'real life' are sleeping through the night, hardly having any probs at all. What's it about us Bumpkins then?

Back from HV. Monty is 10kg. That's 22lbs. OH put him on the scales and he rolled straight on to his tummy, almost falling off the scales and on to the floor :dohh:

Goodness me, I wish he'd learn to crawl forwards. He is sooooooo frustrated. You can watch him reaching forward to get something but at the same time reversing - he just so doesn't understand what's going on

Where's my sunshine gone? It's raining today. Oh well, I'm working so it's not me that's suffering. Can't say the same about OH and Monty, who are both bored stiff I think.

Chloe has started to do this as well :dohh:

Is his weight following on for him? I have totally lost track of these things since I can't get Chloe weighed anymore! :flower:

Darn rain, hope the sunshine comes back again or at least dry weather. Not looking foward to my walk to the bus station in it today, its too warm to wear a coat at the same time!

Yeah, he's about the 90th percentile. Where's he get it from? I'm 5ft 2in and a size 10. OH is 5ft 8in medium build.

I'm convinced that the parents I know in real life exaggerate how well their babies sleep, lol :) Seriously though, a couple of my friends who BF made the comments last year when I was having problems with our pregnancy and their babies were roughly Emma's age now, "call me whenever you need to- I'm still up half the night nursing"- I remember thinking "yikes, what am I getting myself into" :haha: But at the same time it does help me to think that I'm not the only parent up multiple times a night still. We were up every 2 hours last night. I still BF'd everytime- if it wasn't so hot, I'd probably just have walked her back to sleep but I worry that she's waking because she's hot atm.

No advice on getting Monty off the boob for falling asleep either- I do the same. I will say that "wearing her down" in a baby carrier often works though too but that might not work for everyone

It helps me when I hear that others still BF every time. I do this, but only out of habit. I can tell these days when Monty is properly feeding/drinking from me and when he's just suckling ... and apart from one good proper feed in the night, all the others awakenings he only suckles. My problem is that we've done it for so long now that I don't know any other way of settling him back to sleep. I guess I just assume that if I don't let him suckle, then he'll yell for hours. Well, that's certainly what he did when we tried CC. I don't really know what he'd do if I just tried cuddling him for half an hour. We've also got into this habit that his first night feed is done in the nursery and then I pop him back into his cot (usually after waiting for him to fall asleep on me). Then any subsequent awakenings we give in immediately and bring him straight in with us so I can feed him lying down with my eyes shut. Usually (but not always :growlmad:) he then just drops off next to me. This second awakening can be any time from 3am onwards (ha, watch this space, tonight it will be 11pm!), and of course the earlier it is, the more likely he is to awake again. Oh well.

That's good :) Sounds like he could be towering over you both someday! Must be some hidden tall genes somewhere. My Mum is smaller than me, only has size 5 feet whereas me and my sisters all have size 8 :dohh: I'm not sure about my Dad but he is around my height and I am 5ft 9in. My Mum's Mum is quite tall though so must have something to do with it!

Morning girls .. thanks for all the thoughts .. sorry I aint been on here much recently. :hugs:

Re %-iles ... Autumn is in the 75-90th % for height! She's 28.5 inches. She must be getting my sisters height because she's 5ft 10 (I'm only 5.5 and hubby is 5.10 lol) But she went from the 90th%ile for weight down to 25th-50th %ile (18.5lbs) it seems now she's got active .. crawling, pulling up and cruising and such, she's 'sliming down' .. if that's what you call it lol .. she burns more energy.

She's actually started to go off formula and is preferring real food more also.

Maffs ~ Beautiful scan pic :hugs:

I do pretty much the exact same thing with doing the first feed in her nursery and then bring her into bed later. I usually try to hold out until 3:45 though since that is when hubby gets out of bed for work and Emma can have his side of the bed. I'm trying to get into the habit of walking her back to sleep (still not great, but better than always using the boob) if it's only been a short time since the last feed but with the hot weather, that plan has gone out the window a bit. My mum suggested keeping a bottle of water in her crib but I can't see her using it- she's probably more likely to end up in a puddle of water :dohh:

Chaos- good to see you back hun :hugs: I think Emma's burning more calories now too and she's really slimmed down a lot too. I guess I'll find out just how much when we go for our doc's appt next week.

Blimey Kaites, what hours does he work?! Totally understand the needing his side of the bed. When Monty comes in with us now, OH is usually relegated to the spare room, as it means I get a bit of space - babies seem to take up sooooo much room in bed - especially when they insist on lying horizontal, with their feet digging in your tummy

Do any of you use an amber teething necklace? What about chamomilla homoeopathic remedies?

He works from 6am-6pm most days  and he has a 45 min commute so it's long days from April- Dec but has most of the winter off (he needs the time off!). Emma has started doing the feet digging in the tummy thing too. And on "special" days, she'll wake up and try to crawl over me, digging her hands into my ribs and boobs- fun times

We use an amber teething necklace and sometimes the Hylands tablets with Emma. I really think the amber works. We've only given her tylenol for the pain maybe 5 times and she's been teething since she was 2.5 mths old (we've never used any teething gels either).

In other news, Emma has learned how to crawl down stairs. She managed to crawl down the few steps from the hall into the sunken livingroom this morning.

Anyway, I should get my butt in gear- off to the bank to get a certified cheque for the caravan we're buying and then to the post office. I'm gonna feel very poor after but it's such a deal, we'd regret not buying it if we didn't.

I was using cammomile teething powder for a while- he loves it & it really calmed him down when I thought he was teething, however I stopped using is as he's not shownm signs of teething now for a few weeks. I've heard very mixed reviews about the amber teething necklaces- some people swear by them, other's say they noticed no differences at all... I guess it's different for each baby

As for sleeping & BFing- During the day, I'm able to put Harry down in his cot awake, with a toy in each hand & a muslin draped across his legs & tummy & he will happily play & chat to himself & be fast sleep in a few minutes. Night time, and any night time waking, he has to fall asleep on the boob or he will scream blue murder. It's only been this last month he's started sleeping through, which also coincided with him increasing the amounts of solids he was willing to eat & also taking both boobs last thing before bed & for his first feed of the day, whereas prior to that, he would only ever accept one. He's never had a mobile, but he does have a turtle that projects stars onto the ceiling & walls that is on his night stand that soothes him quite well. And he now always sleeps on his front too I've noticed & seems to sleep much better for some reason???

For those of you still BFing- how many feeds do you do in a 24hr period? Harry's still on 6-10 (average 7 or 8) feeds a day, but during the day, they seem to be much more snacky, lasting 5 mins or so, so I'm guessing he'll start dropping them soon.

Do any of your LOs have random obsessions with household objects? Harry is obsessed with pulling DVDs out & fiddling with the radiator nob, loves the laptop cable & the flappy bits on the bottom of the chairs & sofas... he has just discovered our dining room & keep trying to get under it all the time. I feel like I spend half my life chasing after him now that he's mobile. :dohh: I guess this is just the beginning!!!

We had a lovely time at the baby sensory group today- Harry made 2 friends. He tried to eat this little girl's foot, so she bashed him with a book... then they hugged eachother & played happilly together for an hour along with another boy- sitting in a triangle, all sharing the toys & jiggling to jungle sounds music & stuff. Then they were trying to climb over eachother, which was hilarious. It was nice to see Harry finally interacting of his own accord & being a bit more adventurous with what toys he wanted & which kids he saw as 'fair game' to take them from, hahaha! :)

Flora we BF 6-12 times in 24 hours (it's usually 9 on average) Sounds like baby group was fun.

I think Noah will tower over me i'm just under 5'2 but he's definitely looking tall and has big feet.

I've not tried amber for teething I was tempted but I think he'd try whipping it off. Just ordered a Sophie as ever other teether has been rejected. He likes fingers to bite but it bloomin hurts.
