For those of you still BFing- how many feeds do you do in a 24hr period?

Three in the day definitely (first thing, before morning nap, and before bed) sometimes four (if he has one before afternoon nap). Then depending on how the night goes, there will be none, one or two (or more if it's a bad night) feeds during the night.

Do any of your LOs have random obsessions with household objects?

Oh yes, the laundry basket, the aforementioned wooden spoon, CDs (not in their boxes), cork-backed drinks mats, magazines, sheets of paper, any item of clothing with buttons, string ... the list is endless. Give him his toys and he bloody well ignores them!

Chloe loves camera straps, computer cables, phone cable - she loves playing with that whilst your on the phone and making the base swing about and bash into things :dohh:

Have another good scan Maffie :flower:

Any Bumpkins coeliac or gluten-intolerant? OH needs to have coeliac test, so I was just wondering how this could potentially affect his (and my) lifestyle.

Colsy my brother has crohns and cant eat many many things, it had a massive affect on his life but he has adapted really well. There are loads of alternatives to gluten products (I love the pasta made of spinach and beetroot) much more expensive than other items but it's all doable and now many items can be made with alternatives such as rice flour and corn flour (BUT its important to buy products that are exclusively made so no cross contamination can happen with normal gluten products) Also read lots of labels as they hide s many unexpected ingredients in things (my other brother is allergic to dried onions and they stick that in so many products)

Good morning!

How was everyone's night? Another steamy one here and Emma woke at 1am all sweaty so I ended up first moving her into our bed but soon realized that she planned on taking up my whole side of the bed :dohh: so I brought her into the spare room and found a fan and we were good for the rest of the night. We really picked the wrong room for her nursery- super hot in the summer and coldest room in the winter. The only explanation I can think of is that the ventilation system going to her room isn't as efficient as the other rooms because a section of her room is actually over the garage  Anyway, it's supposed to be going back up to 35C today so I suspect we're in for another night of her sleeping out of the nursery! I think we'll hang out in the paddling pool again today. Emma loves the water :)

Flora- we still have the same # of BFs in a day but many of them are shorter now (haven't really counted them though). Emma's a snacker both on the boob and with her food- doesn't seem like she is really eating a whole lot but I guess she's getting what she needs  As for household objects, she loves the laptop power cord (all power cords, telephone cords, and lanyards really), anything on the coffee tables (magazines, papers/office supplies, drink coasters) and the cat, if you can count her as a household object :) Emma loves her toys though too and loves playing in front of mirrors.

Maffie- Enjoy the extra scan!

Colsy- no experience with gluten intolerances but there are lots more products listed as gluten-free popping up in the shops all the time so I imagine it's getting easier (and becoming more common perhaps). Hope that explains some of the health problems your OH has had lately

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi everyone,

Colsy - We still don't sleep through. A good night is a bed at 7, feed at 10.30, then awake at 5.30ish. A reasonable night is a feed at 8pm, then a wake up at 4am (usually ends up snuggled up with me) until 6am. I've come to the conclusion that Earl just does things so full-on that sleep just isn't on the cards. As for the whole 'just put him in his cot' , that's exactly what I've had to to with Earl on occasion. Eventually he lies down and goes to sleep, usually after about 20 mins of playing about. Very frustrating after so long of just lying him down and he'll go to sleep. He's now attempting to pull himself up and is also trying to stand himself up without supprt and usually ends up with a flat nose! The crawling will come. Just one day something he really really wants will be in front of him and he'll all of a sudden start going forwards (that's what happened with Earl lol).

I'm currently job hunting......yuk!

Just wanted to answer those questions....oh adn Earl is obsessed with buttons, so remotes, phones, wii controllers, anything like that! Oh, and bottles of water or pop! :dohh:

Best be off to be constructive....Earl is asleep so must make the most of it! lol

Kaites, Harry loves playing in front of mirrors too. I actually put one on the floor in front of the dvd case, & it keeps him occupied for ages! He yells at himself in it, plays with his hair, pulls faces, touches it etc, and loves looking in the mirror to see me, then turning round to see me, then looking back again & again, like he's trying to figure out how come I'm behind him & in the mirror at the same time!

For those of you in the UK: have you been watching the sex ed show on channel 4? so funny seeing how clueless some of those teens are, but also good that they're making shows like this with such brutal honesty & open-mindedness

Harry banged his head 3 times today... well, twice technically as the third time was me by accident (bad mummy bashed his head on the stair gate when I was taking him upstairs to bed- he didnt wake up though, so all good). He sees something he wants & just launches himself at it, regardless of anything that might be in his way. First time he's cried in a long time, poor little mite. Hopefully he'll learn not to be so kamakazee tomorrow!

anyways, better go. Hubby should be home soon. Haven't seen him in a few days & I miss him now so I'm getting impatient, waiting to hear the car pull onto the drive!

Monty seems to be bashing his head with alarming frequency. Has anybody else actually seen blood as a result? We've had a little nosebleed from contact with the quarry tiles in the kitchen, and then yesterday we had blood from biting his cheek or lip I think when he faceplanted the floor at the end of our baby yoga class. Golly, did he scream. I got quite concerned in the end, cos he just wouldn't be settled. Poor yoga teacher was terrified cos he'd actually been leaning against her knee at the time, so she sort of felt responsible. She wasn't, cos he would have done it whether or not her knee was there. Anyway, he fell asleep in the car on the way home and even stayed asleep for a while when I carried him indoors in his carseat.

Had a naff night, with so-called 'feeds' (change that to 'nipple-for-comfort') at 10.30pm and 3.50am. The second one was in bed with me, and he must have been awake an hour. He kept going from one nipple to the other and in between talking to the duvet and anything else that would listen. All very cute really, except I wanted to go to sleep. He then woke for breakfast at 6am. Peed off with OH this morning. I'm the one who's working today, and I'm also the one who was dealing with Monty in the night ... and yet OH is walking around yawning and claiming he's incapable of functioning entirely properly because he's tired. Well didd-bloody-ums to you :growlmad:

Morning all, well docs changed my dates again, only by a day though so no biggie. MS is there but im getting used to it.

Noah had quite a good night but was determined that 5am was get up time so feeling a bit tired.

I need to get some maternity clothes soon, ive still got some from last time but I cant wear some as I cant feed in them :dohh:

Flora/Colsy im paranoid about head banging, thankfully none yet but he's been close. He has had a nose bleed but thats a while back and it looks like his nose had been scratched, :grr:

I might go investigate the local sure start centre here soon, its not too far away and I think Noah misses his groups.

I was also asked about a birth partner at the hospital and I dont think i'll have one and im bloody scared how i'll do it alone.

Morning all,

Hurray it's Friday! Going to take Chloe to a donkey sanctuary tomorrow with my Mum.

Flora: Bet you were glad when hubby was back, did it feel like there were all of a sudden 100's cars pulling up or driving by before it was actually him?! :haha: Poor Harry, I have to admit, when I walk through doors I don't compensate for the fact I have a wiggle monster in my arms, the amount of times I have squeesed through a half open door for her to lean back at the precise moment and bang her head is too many to count. Its not a huge whack but still, you think I would learn

I haven't seen the show but I did really want to watch it! The adverts seemed very interesting.

Maffie: An even new ticker now I see! Ah well, I suppose the whole 2 weeks before and after helps with them roughly changing your dates! You can always change your mind about a birthing partner, I suppose though if you plan it in your head now being without one when the time comes you might feel a bit more comfortable about it, :hugs:

Colsy: Awh, hope Monty gets out of the wars soon too. :flower:

Only bit of blood (since her fissure) was this Thursday morning, I went to get her up and there was blood on the bed sheet, she had had a nosebleed during the night, wasn't loads but was still a shock.

Aimee: Super good luck with the job hunting! :flower:

Kaites: How did last night go sleep wise? I'm quite surprised at Chloe's room, the sun is on that side in the morning and on our room at night so I really though her room would be a bit cooler. Last night it was 21C which has been the coolest it has been for a while, supopse you would love that!

colsy- we had blood once when he face planted on the laminate flooring in his room & bit his lip- which is quite a feet since he hasn't got any teeth, so it must've been a real whack!
Kte- i do that exact same thing with Harry. I really need to learn how much space we both take up, lol!

Harry has now figured out how to turn the dvd player on & off & the V-Box & the X Box360 & everyting else he can reach with buttons on it. I had to clean prrodge hand prints off the wall thismmorning too as he scooted off before I had a chance to clean him up, and then he drooled all over the Kill Bill 2 dvd case & it got inside. I hope the dvd wont be affected by baby spit, lol!

We had a 'bad-ish' night lasdt night. He went to bed at 8:15pm, then woke up at 4:30am having done a massive poo clearout, then again at 5:45am, again at 8am & then we got up 10:30am, only for him to fall alseep on me till 12:45... I am knackered to say the least since I couldn't get back to sleep after that first waking & then OH was like, 'hey baby, fancy making a baby' thismmorning & I was like, 'you can f right off matey!'

Maffie, things might change, but if you do have no birthing partner, generally speaking, a MW (usually a student one) will stay with you throughout the labour process to help you through it. A couple of my friends were on their own & they both said a MW stayed with them & were brilliant. Do you think you're gonna go for a VBAC or planned C-Sec coz of last time? (or is that way too soon to know?)

Aiming for a VBAC but consultant will make final decision, he needs to speak with my old consultants first.

Well Noah is so so so grumpy today, Sophie (so should of bought that months ago) is helping but he's still upset, I can feel a really sharp tooth but its not physically cut through.

No way?! Lucky you having a chilled-out baby. We have cries, yells, screams and whinges in varying proportions every day. Some days it's just once or twice, other days it feels like all day, LOL. Nappy changes are a nightmare at the mo - he used to sooo love this but not any more - oh no! Also cries when put into bed. And cries when he wakes up to let us know he's awake. Oh, and at the moment, seems to cry everytime I put him down anywhere apart from the lawn in our garden!

happy Friday :)

Hope everyone is doing well. Not too much going on here today- attempting to do some housework but not really feeling motivated. Emma had an okay night (I suppose it's all relative though, lol). She woke up at midnight for a feed/cuddle, slept for another hour, at which point I decided to bring her into the spare room again. I don't know what time it was, but some point after that I woke up to her rolling over and crawling to get to my boob- must have really wanted it to actually get on all fours and crawl for it! Usually she just wiggles in bed until she gets there :) It's a little cooler today but the humidity is still high- hopefully she'll sleep okay in her room tonight.

My grandmother was hospitalized last weekend for dehydration- not from the weather but because she wasn't eating or drinking anything. She's almost 95, has dementia and now something called neuralgia (nerves in her face are degenerating, causing pain, and that's why she's not eating/drinking). She's on an IV but hates being in hospital so is pretty miserable, wanting to go back to the nursing home. Problem is that she won't have an IV there, so it's a bit of a catch 22- spend her last x # of months in a hospital she hates or send her home where she is more comfortable but accelerate the of life because she'll surely become dehydrated, etc again quickly. Argh- situation sucks :(

Anyway, enough sad stuff... anyone else's LO discovered the annoying game of "drop a toy while sitting on Mummy's lap and get her to pick it up"? Either I play along or Emma launches herself off my lap head first. I thought I had her beat at her little game, and put her on the floor, but then she went straight for the laptop power cord :dohh: She's so busy these days, I sometimes think I need an extra set of arms and eyes in the back of my head

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

kaites, sorry to hear that- i hope she's better & out of the hospital soon. :hugs:

Kaites hope you grandmother is better soon, is there any medication they can give to numb the nerves?

Off to town this morning got to walk part way in as everywhere is closed for the mayors parade.

Right off for a quick browse before I get dressed

Morning all, hope were all well and babies are too, im so glad its the weekend!!!!! Well George has settled into Nursery and i have been back 2 weeks in work now, it feels like i havent been away!!! George has also got 4 top teeth coming through, the top 2 are through and the side ones are nearly there, bless him! well have i missed anything ladies, dont seem to have much time, now that im back in work? Please fill me in if i have missed anything

Kaites: Sorry to hear about your grandmother :hugs: Chloe does the toy on the floor game, I was hoping that it would count as stomach crunch replacements but doesn't seem to be working, ah well, every little helps I guess :haha:

Sam: Glad things are going well with you being back at work and George is enjoying nursery :D

Well my Mum came and we took Chloe to a donkey sanctuary and then to a park afterwards. Chloe had a bottle and watched the ducks. She loved the donkeys, got really excited at their ears flapping. She got to see a guinea pig too, it was sooo cute! Mustn't get tempted! 3 cats are certainly enough!

Hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend :flower:
