Ahh... second nap of the day in progress  Still haven't made it to the store for batteries- took the battery out of the smoke detector for the afternoon since the chirping sound was driving me nuts and figured it would keep Emma awake (don't worry, plenty other smoke detectors in the house). Managed to mow the lawn for the first time this season- grass was getting insanely long for April and I was holding out for hubby to cut it, but finally gave in. Just hope I haven't set myself up for mowing it all summer...

Aimee- that sounds like a nice holiday  My parents have a caravan on a lake a few hours away from here and it's a nice escape. I think we are going to spend some time there this summer on the weekends.

Maffie- I love that you had to buy a new nappy "to set a benchmark" :haha: I'm attempting to knit longies and crochet a soaker for nighttime CDing but I think I have "crafty ADD" since I start these things but have a hard time finishing- I just hope they still fit Emma by the time I finish :) Emma usually sleeps from 9pm-8am with 1-2 feeds too. Sounds like most of our babies get similar amounts of sleep.

Colsy- hope Monty's teeth don't bother him tonight :hugs: We're still waiting on our first tooth to break through too- it's taking sooooooo long!!!

Wow I had a lot of pages to catch up on. I'm totally skipping over some parts so will try to remember what I need to reply to lol.

Chaos - No me and FOB are not back together. This is a new upgraded model lol. He lives where I now work and he is amazing lol. He is great with James and we get on amazingly. Glad you got your family back out of your house lol and you enjoyed your hol.

Flora - finally looked at the pics and they are beautiful! You look radiant sweetie and looks like a great day.

We are still on puree food. James still won't tolerate lumps and gags on them if there are any in his food, yet if I give him little bits of banana he is fine. Strange child. I am moving onto mashed foods soon to see if he tolerates that better cos I think it may just be that he doesn't like having 2 different textures at the same time. Will see how it goes. He keeps trying to steal my food from my plate little monkey. Gave him a tiny bit of ice-cream the other day and he thought it was brilliant. I was hoping he had grown out of his lactose intolerance cos he was doing fine with cheese and yoghurts etc. But he had yoghurt 3 days in a row and then had a really nasty nappy again so I have cut back a little bit. Glad he is still on his lactose free milk and looks like he will be for a bit longer.

Kaites - OMG!! Can't believe Emma is standing already! Thats crazy!

Kte - hope you are ok lovey. Just wanted to give you a :hugs:

Can't think of what else I wanted to reply to and I'm too tired to go back and look lol. The new job is going well. But I am so tired. Its a bit of a jump from working 2 days a week and not having to look after James on those days, to doing 5 days a week and getting James and me ready, dropping James to my sister, working all day, coming home and feeding bathing and putting James to bed, then packing the stuff for the next day, making bottles, making lunch etc etc etc. I am hanging and still have to work tomorrow lol. Going to try to get an early night. We are off to OH's for the long weekend which will be nice. Sunday I am going to church with my sister to book the christening cos James and her little boy are having a joint christening. And my older brother is up from Cornwall for the weekend so should get to see him for a few hours providing hes not too hungover lol. Him and my younger brother are off out on the town Saturday night so could be interesting. And now I've written an essay without meaning to lol so I will go to bed. Night girls.

Morning all,

Firstly a huge thanks for all your support :flower: I don't really know what to put as my head is a tad frazzled from it all to say the least and I'd like to keep the nice atmos in here and not keep dragging it over etc . . . I really do appreciate everything said :hugs:

Re Chloe's runny nose: It could be allergies as I have hayfever and asthma so poss hayfever although I didn't suffer with it when I was pregnant! Don't think Ii'll be doing that every year to keep the pollen at bay! Need to get her checked out really. She has a cough now too, sounds horrible, like someone has been smoking around her which they haven't but if people didn't know that's what they would think :nope:

Aimee:Hope Earl is feeling better now :flower: I like the same kind of holidays but I end up doing the £9.50 holidays usually, been to some lovely places doing that tho. I'm with you on the formula waste, Chloe just hasn't been eating the same and I hate throwing it away but obviously it's no good!

Flora: Enjoy camping! I can't take any time off now until October so maybe a holiday for Chloe's 1st Birthday!

Maffie: Glad the night CD is going well. I am same as Chaos, love the idea but the initial cost and all that washing, mind you I am washing pretty much all the time anyway so that wouldn't make a difference! Hope your back feels better soon :flower: Did the chinese live up to it's reputation? Chloe goes down around 7.20, sometimes eats at around 10, if not 1 ish then at around 3 and awake at 6am to start again!

Kaites: My Aunt once called out some exterminators becasue she thought that there were crickets in her house but it turned out to be her smoke alarm chirping for a new battery!!

Chaos: I am amazed at Autumn standing! Chloe tries it sometimes too, I have to ask her to sit now when I put her in the car seat as she won't bend her legs! This morning she wanted to stand up and hold onto me. I was like 'uh oh' I can see whats coming next! I don't watch true blood. I can't seem to watch vampire stuff anymore, was a huge Buffy fan what feels like a few years back but is more as I was at my old job when the last season was on and that was about 7 years ago  Its just, I can't seem to get into any other kind which is weird. I just feel like its either doing it wrong or copying it. Lol.

Colsy: How is Monty's pending tooth? Come through yet? Chloe's is being a pain. Supposed to have the dentist today, not really in the mood but best go, it's Chloe's first time too. Loved your 6 month post.

LK: I'm with you on the crazyness that is full time work. You come home to start again. Im in a routine now which is good but its no fun at first! Sounds like a nice long weekend planned.

Anyone else any nice plans?

:flower:

Well, have since discovered that it's two teeth, not one. One front one and then the incisor next to it. They are sharp as hell and almost but not quite piercing the gum. We had a bad night - felt like the newborn days again, as Monty was howling with the tooth pain from 3am until almost 5am  We gave him infant paracetamol (the first time he's ever had any) and it seemed to help, but mainly he just didn't know what to do with himself so we laid him between us and kind of just drifted in and out of sleep until dawn. Really hoping tonight is better. He also has a grotty cold, prob the worst one he's had so far, so he really isn't himself at all. We have swimming tomorrow so I hope he's better for that, as he loves the water usually.

Good afternoon!

Hope everyone is well :) I'm completely exhausted and should probably be napping atm  Emma decided to wake at midnight and stubborn mummy wanted to try to get her to settle back in her cot. After 3 hours of doing the "pick up, put down" and screaming, hubby came in the room, declared Emma the victor in our battle of wills and brought her into our bed. Can't blame him since he had to wake up only an hour later at 4am and I'm sure his sleep was affected too but I felt defeated, especially when he said, "she doesn't like her crib" and left me crying on the floor beside her cot. I don't know if it's teething or a bit of separation anxiety, but it seems like over the past week, we have a good night of sleeping followed by a completely crap night. I hope this passes soon. Anyway, not much going on here today. I'm recovering from last night- sore back and shoulders from all the picking up my heffalump and feeling a bit brain dead. No plans for the weekend- hubby working on Saturday again which sucks since Emma and I only seem to get at most 2 hours with him in the evenings 'til he needs to get to bed. On his last pay cheque, he worked 133 hours in the 2 week period- I feel like we're all burning out from his long hours. I booked a night in a hotel for hubby's birthday in June. It's just here in Ottawa so there isn't really a change of scenery but there isn't any travel time and there is a pool

LK- glad to hear the new job is going well. Enjoy your weekend :)

Colsy- I feel your pain, hun :hugs: I really hope Monty has a better night tonight!

Kte- that's too funny about your aunt :haha: I hope Chloe feels better soon :hugs:

:hugs: to those that need them. Time for another :coffee: for me...

Good evening everyone,

Kaites - sorry to hear about your bd night. I hate it when hubby does that to me...I feel like a complete failure. But I guess when you're that close and that determind you tend to get a bit lost in the process. I have set a 20 minute limit of him crying/fighting sleep. If he's not going to go, we get up, keep it quiet, have some cuddles, get a book out, maybe have a drink, then 20 mins later we try again for another 20 minutes. It seems to work every time, and only once have I had to go to a third attempt. I think it just allows you to step away and calm down. Nuts to the 'they'll learn that's what they have to do'....if they're tired, they'll sleep eventually.

Colsy - I hope Monty's teething is ok tonight. :hugs:

Well, Earl is completely off his bottles. I have to offer him food and then offer it again 1 hour later and we're lucky to take 2oz at each one. I'm a bit stuck what to do if I'm honest as he still takes about 16oz overnight (bedtime and 2 night feeds), so I'm tempted to just leave him be and only offer him a bit when he shows to be hungry, but I hate the thought of him not eating. He has a good 3 meals a day now, and still loves his solids, water, and anything else you care to offer lol. It's just his bottles. :dohh: I think if I offer him 4oz after each nap, maybe he'll start to come around. I'm hoping it's just teething. He's normally so good with his milk it really worries me!

Best be off.....got a few bits to do before hubby gets home. Omelettes for tea tonight....yummers. I also want to watch John and Kate plus 8 - totally addicted to 'Mum TV' as hubby calls it lol. Doesn't make me want more but I must say, if I hadn't been through it, all the birth story programmes would so put me off having them altogether! lol :haha:

Aimee have you started trying to offer the milk in a cup? Ive started offering a cup and its messy and slow but I wanted Noah to get used to cups so thats how he has some liquids. Noah is a food monster he is eating solids and still taking upto 10 feeds a day  He's feeling much heavier.

Kaites I think sometimes if you are too determined a battle of wills is never won (if that makes sense) I find if something isn't working we take a step back move to something else/somewhere else so we can all chill and re try when ready. I think im so lucky with Noah as he settles so well at night (not throught the day though - that nap is always on the sofa!)

We had a bout of waking at 3am last night pooor mite was gnawing at his teddy and sobbing. Think is mouth is so sore. Thankfully he settled well after that until just after 6.
Must say he's only just gone up tonight, we are bit behind schedule as he was so tired he fell asleep down here so im hoping its not affected his sleep pattern for tonight too much.

Colsy, I hope Monty's teeth settle down soon I sometimes think maybe its best to get them through all at once so its doner out the way and the pain doesnt drag on for them.

Kte my hayfever went when I was pregnant, had a little sneezing this year but nothing like I normally do. My asthma has been rubbish but I think thats down to dust when sorting through boxes of stuff we still haven't unpacked

Right time for a :coffee: we have a guest arriving tonight for the weekend. OH his planning lots of bike rides with him.

Maffie - Thanks. Earl has water, juice and the odd splash of cows milk in sippy's and beakers and he's great with them and I must admit I did think about doing that if this carries on. I counted up the leftovers from today and I made up 37oz (5 x 6oz and 1 x 7oz) and there was only 7oz leftover. So that's 30oz....which is a lot I suppose. Just seems to be a struggle. I will try the after naps thing and if we're still not going well, the sippy will come out.

Hi girls, Just a quick update - so far today (our 'formula day' goes from 9pm-9pm) Earl has had 20oz, 12oz overnight and 8oz in the daytime. He's still got 1 bottle to go and yesterday he took 4oz t bedtime so hoping for a repeat.

I tried him with a sippy cup and he got really bored after about half an oz so that's a no-go. I've just let him eat as much as he wants at mealtimes instead as I think he's sussed that solids are actually filling lol. He had 1 weetabix with cows milk AND a fromage frais at breakfast! Only normally has half a weetabix! Little gannet! lol.

Anyhoo - just wanted to update as I'm off to put Earl to bed and have a bath myself now so wont be on later to update. Have a nice Saturday girls xx :flower:

Evening all,

Well Chloe is 6 months! :cloud9: I always get confused since she was born on the 31st - do I class it as last day of month or use weeks etc . . Be happier when we get some more 31st to end the month, much easier!!

Got so mad about the dentist! I went but they shut at 4, my appointment was at 4.20!?! So going to call them Tue's and see what the hell has gone wrong. I got no message, text or letter from them telling me otherwise! What a waste of time and petrol! Had to take Chloe out of nursery early, battle rush hour traffic to get there all for nothing! THen got stuck on motor way on way home for ages too :dohh:

Aimee: I got Chloe a TT cup from the asda even, she has the CTN bottles so thought its a good transition cup. Going to start her with it tomorrow. I feel way behind with weaning now (not that its a competition!)

Kaites: Good idea about booking the break . . . know how you feel with such few hours together, it's not easy at all :hugs:

Maffie: Yeah, my asthma has been playing up too more than normal.

Afternoon girls. How is everyones long weekend going? Weather has been completely pants here but still having a nice weekend. Went to Swindon yesterday and had a wander around and some lunch, and then watched a DVD in the evening after James was in bed. Went to church this morning which me and James both enjoyed and booked his christening for 4th July. Can't wait now. Got the christening stuff down from the loft to check to see if my brothers romper fits him which it should still do in July. James is now doing the thing where he gets on his hands and knees and rocks forwards and backwards before falling over lol. It looks so funny so we are very close to crawling now. He is very frustrated with it all so will be nice when he finally figures it out.

Going to have a fun evening tonight. We are having fajitas for dinner and then playing some Wii! OH's brother and brothers wife should be coming over so should be a good evening.

Kte - its a nightmare isnt it?! I'm getting into a routine thankfully but I was so exhausted by the end of the week. Glad I only have to work 4 days this week.

Evening all,

LK I have ironing and some films to watch at the same time! Channel 5 is great for films on a Sunday! Your weekend sounds great :flower: Bless James trying to crawl and just rocking!

I saw Nij's cousin's baby yesterday, they came over as I gave them Chloe's swing chair, didn't see the point of keeping it as she grew out of it ages ago and I am not planning on having anymore LO's in the near-mid future! So anyway, that was really nice, couldn't believe how much hair he had! Chloe is such a baldie-kins bless her but I like it as it comes from my side of the family and I know she will have flowing locks one day! She is sat on her playmat at the moment working out a crinkly giraffe. I love watching her figure stuff out and investigate. Such a cuddily bum.

Tomorrow it's wash more clothes which I should of done today but hey, I wanted to chill!

Morning ladies,

Well, what a difference a day makes!

Earl seems to be dropping his second night feed, is back on his milk during the day (very much so!) and is able to hold his own bottles!!! Hubby has been trying to make him do this for about 2 months as his workmates little girl could do it at 4 months, but I told him that until he's 6 months he'll want mummy to do it, and how right was I lol.

His teething seems to have died down now, he hasn't ahd to ahve calpol since yesterday morning, slept well and only woke at 1.30 becuase his nappy had leaked majorly. I offered him food and he only took 1oz. He then woke at 6am as normal and where he's only been have 2oz at a push in the morning he drained a 5oz bottle and I had to top up his bottle with 2oz from a carton as he was still hungry. He only took about half an oz but still lol.

Kte - Earl has hair.....just. He has loads on top, but the sides are short and he still has a baldy patch lol. It seems to grow in fits and starts, usually when he's on a growth spurt I'll wake up in a morning and he's got way more hair than when he went to bed lol.

Hope we're all ok otherwise. My sore throat seems to have transformed into a full blown cold. It seems to be getting worse rather than better but I'm not allowed to just take myself off to bed as hubby has it too and of course his is worse lol. I had to tell him off yesterday as it was his only day off for 2 weeks (next day off is the 14th May) and he spent the entire morning on the laptop. He barely said 2 words to me :growlmad:. I told him off, and in the evening, once Earl was in bed he did put it down and we watched some life on Mars and talked about stuff....finally lol. Nice to have a grown up conversation with no raspberries being blown lol.

I've decided I need a hobby. I have my sewing machine, but I never get a chance to do anthing on it. I have a couple of things going (I've had to re-start Earl's trousers as I was making them in 9-12m.....hmmmm yeah! lol. Going to start them again in 18-24 lol. Basically I'm bored and I have nothing that's mine....Earl isn't a hobby lol. I have a couple of ideas but I have no money, no time and no space lol. Not a good combination lol.

Anyhoo's, time for breakfast  Have a nice bank holiday everyone xx

Maffie:  Oh my goodness! Hate this question (my Dad asked me last year lol) - are we happy about this? - i.e. am I allowed to say congratulations?

I'm totally shocked but yeah im happy, bit worried with the horrendous time I had last time.

Well hun, may I be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :flower::flower::flower:

At least this time you'll know what to expect, and every pregnancy is different so this one may go as smooth as silk- PMA there for you

Awww - so have you figured out when you're due etc. Aww hun I'm so excited for you. Noah will be a big brother!! :flower: (I'll shut up now or I'll end up crying lol.) :hugs:

Just had a look i'm guessing start of Jan, i did a digi test can they be false positive????

I suppose any test can but I think they're really rare now - more likely to be a false negative than a false positive I think. If you're not sure get yourself to the Dr's - having said that my Dr told me that the ones you buy in the chemist are better than the ones they use in the NHS!

Wow congrats Maffie!!!!! :happydance: My doc said they are more likely to produce a false result when they say 'negative' hope i made sense?!?!!!
